To join KMTC to pursue a Certificate course, you must have a minimum of C- with specific qualifications in cluster subjects in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE).

For Diploma programmes, you must have attained a minimum of C with specific qualifications in cluster subjects. Upgrading courses require that a candidate has a certificate in a respective field while for Higher Diploma programmes, candidates must have attained a Diploma course as per the following guidelines.

KRA‘s field officers are crucial. They collect taxes, provide taxpayer education, and ensure compliance. The Field Officers have been equipped with knowledge and skills to handle tax-related processes through a capacity-building program comprising KRA core values and tax modules

ADVICE: When KRA Officers come to your premises, ask for their KRA staff ID, then dial *572# to confirm to avoid being conned.

Briefly tell us about RSAs and their role.

Revenue Service Assistants (RSAs) are the recently recruited KRA field officers domiciled in the Domestic Taxes Department. They are located and operate across Tax Service Offices (TSOs).

Their main role involves field visits to monitor compliance and facilitate tax base expansion initiatives, helping KRA to achieve its overall objective of collecting revenue on behalf of the government.

Have they undergone any training?

Yes, the RSAs have been taken through a training program comprising technical tax modules on Value Added Tax, Customs and KRA business systems; and a security training.

How was the training facilitated?

The training was spearheaded by the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA) and delivered in partnership with the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF). KESRA handled all tax, customs and KRA related training which comprised 80% of all training, and KDF supported the process through discipline module.

What was the objective of the discipline module?

Due to the complexity and the challenges associated with the RSAs role in dealing with diverse taxpayers and a myriad of taxation issues, the training was to inculcate discipline, patriotism and help trainees achieve physical fitness for the demanding revenue field job.

Is this the first time KRA is collaborating with KDF to train its staff?

No. KRA has implemented various training programs in collaboration with KDF. This has been for our senior staff, middle level staff and entry level staff. Besides KDF, KESRA offers training in partnership with many other partners including local universities and international partners.

With the dynamic taxation landscape, is there a sustainable capacity building plan for RSAs?

Yes. Training for the RSAs is continuing within an elaborate refresher training program between KESRA and other partners besides KDF.

The Kenya Medical Training College, KMTC, offers training in a wide range of medical and health fields. There are a number of programmes on offer for both Fresh KCSE graduates and those already in practice. Each programme has its own set minimum requirements and study duration (as outlined below). In this feature, a detailed guide on all the courses’ requirements, how to make your application and fees has been provided; as stipulated by KMTC.

KMTC has about 68 Campuses across the Country. Intakes usually occur in March and September; every year.

The prospective candidates apply for admission into courses for each academic year for Regular or Parallel Category. The Regular category have subsidized fee with optional accommodation but no choice for campus while the parallel category have non subsidized fee, no accommodation option but have option for campuses choice in more than sixty five (65) campuses situated in different parts of the country depending on the courses.

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has reminded teachers and staff to file their 2019 individual income tax returns for 2019; ahead of the June 30th deadline. The filing of the tax returns shall be done online using the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) itax platform (https://itax.kra.go.ke).

To file the KRA returns, one is supposed to have a P9 form that is generated by the employer. “The Tax deduction cards (P9 Forms) have been uploaded on the TSC payslip portal for all TSC employees to download. This will facilitate filing of the returns,” says TSC Boss Dr. Nancy Macharia via a circular dated April 9, 2020.

“You are also informed that the Commission is working Jointly with KRA to update the itax records for the years 2015 to 2019 to facilitate issuance of Tax Compliance Certificates (TCC),” she adds.

Late filing of tax returns attracts a penalty of 5% of the tax due or Ksh 20,000 whichever is higher. Late payments of taxes leads to a penalty of 20% of the outstanding tax.

An individual income tax return is a declaration of income earned by an individual within a particular year. Every individual with a KRA PIN is required to file this return. Those without formal employment should file Nil Returns.

You can file your Individual Income Tax Returns for a particular year of income, anytime between 1st January to 30th June of the following year.

Submission of income tax returns is an online process done via iTax.

All persons with a Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA, PIN are expected to declare yearly individual income tax returns (Pay As You Earn, PAYE), online. Individual Income Tax is charged for each year of income on all the income of a person. Public servants under the Government Human Resource Information System (GHRIS) salary payment platform can easily download their P9 forms and use them to file the individual income tax returns.

The P9 form is an end of year tax returns form that is posted on the employee’s personal account. It can then be downloaded for purposes of filing tax returns.

For Government of Kenya Employees (Both at the Counties and National Government) downloading the P9 form can be achieved by following the steps below:

Enter your User ID and password, correctly, and click on ‘Login’. Remember you must first register for you to use this service. In case you are seeing a security warning, just click on proceed to unsafe…
Once logged in, click on the ‘My records’ tab followed by ‘My payslip’.
Now, select P9 Form and you will be taken to another Login window. Re-enter your User ID and password, correctly, and click on ‘Login’.
This takes you to the Public Service Payroll system.
Click on ‘P9- forms’ to display your current tax card (P-9 form).
To print the form, click on the ‘Print it’ tab.
