20 Boarding schools to be identified, equipped per county for Corona patients as Positive cases soar

The Kenyan Government has directed the ministry of education to work with all county governments to identify at least 20 boarding schools per county to be prepared for use as health facilities as part of Covid-19 preparedness. The facilities are to be well equipped, complete with all necessary facilities to handle COVID19 patients. This has been revealed by the Deputy President, Dr. William Ruto.

“The health ministry will work with governors to ensure it done as quickly as Possible,” says the DP.

“This pandemic poses an existential threat therefore every effort counts. This is no time for blame game. Let’s pull TOGETHER,” added the DP.

This comes even as the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 8 new cases of coronavirus disease on Monday. Then new development now brings the total number of those who have tested positive of COVID-19 in the country to 50.

“In the last twenty-four hours, we have tested 172 samples. Out of this number a total of Eighty Four (84) samples from quarantined guests have been analyzed,” reported the CS.

The CS warned Kenyans about fake news being circulated on a possibility of existence of a vaccine to COVID19. “There is a lot of information circulating about Coronavirus, it’s important to know what’s true and what’s not. We appeal to all Kenyans to embrace this fight against coronavirus as their own and avoid misinformation. Don’t believe the myth that a vaccine for COVID-19 is available,” warned the CS.

CS Kagwe has at the same time directed motor Cycle operators, commonly known as BodaBoda) to only carry one passenger so as to curtail spread of the virus. “Most of the new infections are coming from the community and all boda boda operators are advised only carry one passenger henceforth,” he ordered.

In other measures, Employers have now been directed to release all workers by 4pm without slashing their salaries. This is in order for the workers to operate within the set curfew times. The Council of governors are also to have joint communique with interior ministry on other raft of measures.

Nairobi continues to lead with cases of Coronavirus patients which now stand at 34. While, Kilifi and Mombasa have recorded 6 and 3 cases; respectively. Kwale and Kitui have one case each.

Of the 50 confirmed cases, 26 are Males while 24 are Female.

  • Performance Delivery
  • Integrity
  • Accountability
  • Honesty
  • Credibility
  • Relationship Building
  • Bias of Action
  • Humility
  • Team Work
  • Are they Constant & Consistent?
  • Self Awareness
  • Do they have an Empowerment Agenda?
  • Are they Role Models?
  • Is their presence felt on the ground?

METHODOLOGY

The following methodology was applied in the research:

Sampling: Random Sampling

Sample Size: 7,200 Respondents

Sample Area: 47 Counties

In the challenges we faced doing this National Survey, we found that most of the voters didn’t know the different roles of their Leaders i.e Governor, Senator, Women Rep, Member of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), etc.

Serious Civic Education needs to be done so that Voters can learn that different Elected Leaders and non-elected leaders have different roles to play.

This Survey was Self- sponsored by POLLSTER RANKING and it is our hope that the rating will spur Leaders to improve their work style and Service Delivery to the Voters.

KTDA farmers to receive reduced tea bonuses at end of October

Smallholder tea farmers affiliated to the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), will receive their bonus payment at the end of October.

This follows the conclusion of meetings by directors of the 54 KTDA managed tea factories on Friday last week.

In a statement, KTDA Chairman, David Ichoho, said that factory directors had reviewed the performance of their companies over the last 12 months and declared the second payment rates to the respective farmers.

“Generally, the rate per kilo does not vary much from those of the previous Financial Year,” said the Chairman.

Bonus rates are determined by the factory’s income for the year, the quality of leaf delivered to the factory, the cost of production and the average price of tea that the factory fetched at the market.

These costs are then deducted from the factory’s income and the balance paid to farmers as bonus.

The announcement comes at a time when the tea sector recorded an 8.3 per cent drop in the CTC tea prices at the Mombasa auction from an average of 2.38 United States dollars in the last Financial Year to 2.18 dollars in the Financial Year 2020/2021.

KTDA says that the drop in prices was occasioned by oversupply of tea in markets, a scenario that has been playing out since 2018.

The Agency has also blamed price drop on the business disruptions occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic that not only caused global shipping challenges, but also reduced the demand for tea in key tea consuming countries.

“The relatively favorable exchange rate of the Kenya Shilling against the US dollar has ,however, helped shore up earnings from the sale of tea which is generally dollar dominated,” said Ichoho.

The current exchange rate for the US dollar against the Kenyan Shillings stands at Sh110.

The Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Peter Munya, asked tea factories to reduce their cost of production as a way of maximizing earnings for tea farmers.

Speaking in Meru County, Munya said that most factories were incurring high production costs which were eating into the farmers’ income.

To mitigate this, Ichoho, said that the newly constituted Board was working to ensure that KTDA managed factories were implementing energy efficient changes that have seen the amount of energy used to produce a kilo of tea drop by 15 per cent.

To further cushion farmers from low tea prices, Ichoho said that KTDA had set a minimum price for produce delivered to the Agency.

According to the Chairman, already prices of tea under the minimum price have improved significantly, heralding better returns for farmers at the end of the current financial year ending June next year.

“We have embarked on various reforms and initiatives aimed at increasing money to farmers. The reforms are already bearing fruits and farmers should look forward to higher returns in the coming months,” said Ichoho.

How to file KRA Nil returns: Latest KRA News

A KRA Nil return is filed by individuals who have the Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA, PINs  but are not formally employed. As thus, such individuals do not pay income tax otherwise referred to as Pay As You Earn (PAYE).

If you have a KRA PIN it is important that you file your returns within the set timelines; usually between January and June of every year. Failure to file Nil returns (just like in other returns) attracts a hefty fine from KRA.

In case you are wondering how file nil returns, worry not as this is the simplest type of return to file. In fact it takes less than one minute on a good network.

All that you are required to have is your KRA PIN and Password to log into your KRA iTax portal. If by any chance you can not recall your KRA password, you can always easily reset it here.

600,000 More Kenyans Registered To The Inua Jamii Programme

The government has so far registered 601,539 Kenyans to the Inua Jamii programme out of the 700,000 people targeted in the fresh enrolment exercise that kicked off on Friday across different parts of the country.
As of Monday morning, the registration numbers for different social protection programs stood as follows:

Older Persons Cash Transfer (OPCT): 371,725 beneficiaries
Cash Transfer Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT OVC): 167,575 beneficiaries
Persons with Severe Disabilities (PWSD): 62,239 beneficiaries
Speaking during an inspection of the registration exercise in Nyeri on Monday, Labour CS Florence Bore said the turn-out was impressive, adding that more people will be enrolled before the closure of the exercise at the end of this month.

“As I wind up the spot-checking activities in Nyeri, I’m glad to note that the Registration exercise is going on well and will continue until the end of the month,” said Bore.

She added: “The commitment of the Kenya Kwanza Government to increase the numbers from the current 1.2 million beneficiaries to 2.5 million is on course.”

The CS also announced that the Cash Transfer for Orphans (CTOVC ) and Vulnerable Children and Persons with Severe Disabilities PWSD programmes will undergo further household screening to establish those that qualify.

A high turnout was witnessed on the first day with hundreds of elderly persons turning up at designated administration offices.

Currently, the Inua Jamii programme benefits over 1.2 million Kenyans, including 353,000 orphans and vulnerable children, 833,129 elderly citizens, and 47,000 persons with severe disabilities across the country.

Academic Writing Help: Ultimate guide to the best academic writing sites

During the school year, many students turn to academic writing help for assistance with their homework and papers. Such services have become pretty popular among students, but still, not everyone can trust them.

But everyone will agree that online help can be a great aid for a student who would like to be assisted with their homework. What are the advantages of such services and how to choose the best one? In this article, you can find answers to both of the questions.

What Are the Benefits of Academic Writing Services?

Academic writing help can be very beneficial for all students. Here are some of the benefits of such services:

  1. You will complete your homework faster. You will not be loaded with many
assignments anymore, so you will be able to manage your homework in shorter
terms. You will also have a chance to make sure that your homework is done right
since you can spend more time on each assignment.
  2. There will be more time for your hobbies and some rest. Many students complain that it is problematic to do all of the assignments then need to work on it since they take too much time. But with the writing services, you will have much more free time.
  3. Your homework will be highly graded. All the completed assignments will definitely be done on the highest level possible. As a result, you will definitely get the best grade, and your teacher will be impressed by the homework you submit.
  4. Your writing skills will become better. Even you don’t plan to become a professional writer, still, such skills are going to be very useful for you since they are used everywhere. It will be enough for you to use your paper as an example and try writing papers with its help. You can also ask the professional you will work with for some advice.
  5. You will get a chance to focus on other tasks. It is very easy to lose your focus when you have to multitask and work on a few assignments at once. But with writing services, you won’t have a problem like that.

How to Choose the Right Homework Help?

Academic writing services are very popular among students. There are many different companies on the web, and it can be hard to pick the best company that will provide you with a good paper. These tips are going to help you with selecting the service that will complete all the assignments for you:

  • Make sure you will work with the professionals. If you want your paper to be done on the best level, double-check if the service cooperates with good writers.
  • Analyze the website. Often the site of the service can tell you a lot about it. Scroll down the main page, read additional information about the company, and find out more about features the service has to offer.
  • Read the samples. If this option is available with the chosen writing service, request the examples of papers to be able to check the quality of the writing service. This way, you will know if the service is worth the money.
  • Talk to the experts. If this is possible, discuss your assignment with the professionals who work at this service. This will help you understand how good is the service is and if it’s what you need.
  • Check if the writing service works around the clock. You definitely want to get assistance with the possible problem at any time. A good writing service should work 24/7.

Get assistance with any homework you have

If you feel like it is hard for you to handle all the assignments, you can always rely on the academic writing service to do all of them. Companies like that can be a good option for students who feel overwhelmed and stressed out. Students have to deal with a huge amount of stress, and because of that, they spend less time on their hobbies and other things they like. If you decide to order your paper online, make sure you choose the right company and check if it is really good.

FEASSSA Games 2023 Latest News: Fixtures, Pools, Draws, Team News and Results

2023 FEASSSA Games- 20th Edition

Host: Huye City in Rwanda

Dates: 17th to 27th August, 2023.

A Spotlight Boys’ Soccer Teams- St. Mary’s Kitende.

No one has lifted the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) more than St. Mary’s kitende (SMASK) from Uganda. They have won the championship a record thirteen (13) times. The Ugandan Kings retained the title for eleven years between 2004 and 2014. They were dethroned by their Ugandan counter parts, Buddo SS, in 2018 at Musanze, Rwanda, after overcoming hosts LDK 4-3 in post match spot kicks.

SMASK reclaimed the trophy in 2019 after edgeding rivals Buddo SS via a solitary goal; in the final played at Sheik Abeid stadium in Arusha,Tanzania. The following year (2022) Kitende were eliminated at the Semis by HighWay from Kenya; denying them an opportunity of defending their title. Kibuli SS went on to lift the boys’ football trophy and gold medals with a 2-0 win over Kenya’s Highway in the final of the 2022 FEASSSA Games at the Shiekh Amri Abeid stadium, Arusha, Tanzania.

At this year’s games, SMASK has been drawn in pool B alongside Kenya’s Silver medalists, Dagoretti High, Kibuli SS (from Uganda), Kiwira Coal Mine (Tanzania) and Rwandese Champs Ecose Musambira

Pool A has: Kenya’s Gold Medalists, St. Anthony’s Boys, Tanzania Champs Kalangalala and Uganda’s Bronze medalists, Amus College. Other teams in the pool are: Shanderema (Kenya), Collège George De Fox De Kagarama (CGFK) and Uganda’s Silver Medalists St. Henry’s College, Kitovu.

Of the teams gracing this year’s edition it is only St. Anthony’s Kitale, Kenya (2002) and Kibuli SS (2022) who have lifted the trophy in the past.
