The TTC offers both certificate and diploma courses.

MURANG’A TTC APPLICATION FORM & INTAKES REQUIREMENTS

Intakes for new students to TTCs usually occur in August/September, every year.

MURANG’A COURSES APPLICATION PROCEDURE VIA THE KUCCPS STUDENT PORTAL

This is the main procedure through which you can file your application.

Applications are made online at the Kenya Universities & Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)’s website: – www.kuccps.net on specified dates when the site is announced open for applications. However, students who miss this dates may apply directly to the College.
Applicants who sat for KCSE in 2011 and previous years and have not benefited from any Government Sponsorship are also eligible to apply.

If you did not manage to get placement via KUCCPS, then you still can get one via the TTC. Simply contact the TTC for direct admission. (See contacts below).

MURANG’A TTC MINIMUM DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION COURSE QUALIFICATIONS:

TTCs offer training for both Science (Diploma in Education Science) and Arts (Diploma in Education Arts) teachers. The diploma course lasts for 3 academic years. It is a pre-requisite from the Ministry of Education that aspiring secondary school teachers should have the below minimum KCSE qualifications for entry into DTE (Diploma in Teacher Education) course. Here are the latest general minimum requirements for students seeking to pursue teaching:

Mean grade: C+ (plus)
English: C (plain)
Mathematics: D+ (plus) for those taking education arts and C (plain) for those hoping to undertake training in education science.
Two specialization subjects (subjects you intend to teach at high school): C+

Various accredited universities offer Courses in Education for prospective students who want to be teachers. The universities have course specific requirements for the various Arts and Sciences courses. They also offer various teaching subjects combinations. THE KABARAK EDUCATION COURSES

Bachelor’s degree programmes require a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. OR
A minimum of Credit Pass at diploma level or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions. OR
2 Principal Passes at ‘A’ level obtained at one sitting OR two Principal Passes obtained at different sittings provided the scores are of grade C and above.
Applicants must also meet additional entry requirement as may be specified by respective departments.
Applications from mature students will be considered subject to them satisfying the University’s Conditions of Admission.
Diploma holders in teacher education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE and two years’ experience in teaching.
P1 teachers certificate holders with a minimum of C+ at KCSE and two years of teaching experience.

BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SCIENCE) COURSES/ SUBJECTS COMBINATIONS

The university offers Bachelor of Education (Science) course in the following teaching subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry and Computer studies. A student can choose a combination of two subjects from those listed here. Teacher Training Colleges, TTCs, 2020/ 2021 applications and admissions

Diploma Teachers Training Colleges, TTCs, train professional teachers for secondary education. Their intakes occur yearly and placements of KCSE students is done by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Not all students are, though, placed by KUCCPS. If you did not apply via KUCCPS, you should not be worried as there is a second chance.

KCSE STUDENTS APPLYING DIRECTLY TO THE TTC OF CHOICE

If you were not placed by KUCCPS, you can still secure a chance at any of the TTCs. Just, scan and send your KCSE Results Slip or Certificate to the preferred TTC. Your results slip will be verified before you are instructed on how to get your admission letter. Applications for the September, 2020, intakes are ongoing.

Reopening dates for JKUAT university; Here is the latest news

Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has issued a statement concerning the re-opening dates for face to face learning. The university’s students, just like in other universities, have been off campus as a result of Covid19 pandemic outbreak in Kenya.

In a presser, the university says the reopening dates have not been agreed. This comes after some reports in the media indicated that the university has released the dates after its Senate meeting.

“Our attention has been drawn to some fake news making rounds online and featuring in Opera News, purporting to suggest that JKUAT has announced re-opening dates for face to face learning. Please note that the report (attached) purporting to have been issued by JKUAT is fake,” reads a presser from JKUAT.

The university leadership says there was no Senate convened on Friday, 23rd October 2020 (as contained in the fraudulent circular), to set dates for reopening as alleged in the attached document.

“Such a meeting will only be held after an express directive from the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education. When official Communication regarding the reopening of the University for face to face learning is made, it will be published on our Official Website. We urge all students to await our official communication after the directive by the Government. ” Reiterates the University.

Most university are still offering their lessons via online platforms reopening for face to face learning may be a pipe dream; if the current spike in covid19 infections is anything to go by.

Other universities opted to only recall a section of the learners; more so those in their final year. For instance, at the University of Eldoret all fourth year and postgraduate students have been recalled. Also recalled are Engineering and diploma final year students.

How to download 2020/2021 KUCCPS Admission letter to Lukenya University; 2020 KUCCPS Admission list pdf

Congratulations for getting admission at Lukenya University after your successful application. Students joining Lukenya University are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after sitting their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

Once the applications are closed, KUCCPS then places the KCSE students in preferred courses depending on the student’s score, number of available vacancies against applicants among other selection criteria. In not satisfied with the University that you have been selected to join then you can apply for Inter-Institution Transfer.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.

You need to be aware that Teacher Training Colleges are of two types; public and private TTCs. Public TTCs are owned and managed by the government, while Private ones are owned by individuals.

Students joining Koitalel Samoei University College (KSUC) are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after sitting their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

Once the applications are closed, KUCCPS then places the KCSE students in preferred courses depending on the student’s score, number of available vacancies against applicants among other selection criteria. In not satisfied with the University that you have been selected to join then you can apply for Inter-Institution Transfer.

In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. All application forms can be obtained from the Registrar, Murang’a University of Technology upon payment of a non‐refundable fee of K.Shs. 500/= for Craft courses, K.Shs. 1000/= for Diploma courses and K.Shs. 1,500 for Degree courses.
Payments should be made either in Cash or Bankers Cheque in favor of Murang’a University of Technology.

TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION (TSC) REQUIREMENTS FOR PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

Students registering for a Bachelor of Education degree programme should be informed that:

the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) which is the Commission mandated by law to register and employ teachers requires prospective teachers to have a minimum mean grade C+ and above at KCSE,
the prospective student teacher to have also earned a minimum grade C+ in the selected two teaching subjects, and
have attended and passed at least 8 course units in each of the two (2) teaching subjects at the University.
