Individual candidates can check their KCSE results by sending an SMS with their full index number (11digits) followed by the word KCSE. The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

One can also download the whole school’s KCSE results by Visiting the Official KNEC exams portal; https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/.  This one requires the school’s log in credentials.

Finally, candidates can visit the school for their results. This is usually a day after the results have been released. It is important that you check your result slip to ensure there are no errors on it. Be keen to see that details such as your name, index number and sex are accurate. In case of any discrepancy, please notify your principal or KNEC immediately for correction.

TSC Delocalization; 22 Head Teachers from Kisii County moved to Nyamira

A total of 22 Head Teachers have been moved from Kisii County to the neighbouring Nyamira County. This is in line with the Commission’s policy on delocalization. A quick check on those moved shows that all of them are natives of Kisii County.

The Commission kicked off the delocalization exercise in January, 2018. Other massive deployments would then follow in April, August and December of the same year. Though in April, 2019 the Commission slowed down the transfers as only a handful administrators were moved.

Also on the move are new administrators who were appointed after the just concluded interviews. Over 2,00 Principals have been redeployed in the December 2019 exercise.

Low turnout mars TSC Internship teacher interviews as Many applicants stay away over grievances; List of schools missing applicants

Empty halls characterized the ongoing TSC internship teacher interview sessions in some parts of the country; as the would be applicants stayed away. Panelists who had thronged the interview venues by 8.00am were caught by surprise when no shortlisted applicant showed up.

 “We have been forced to suspend the exercise as no one has turned up,” said one panelist at an interview venue in the western region. In this particular venue, there were no interviewees despite the the fact that the respective schools had sent notifications to shortlisted candidates. “I had sent notifications to all the 5 shortlisted candidates. They promised to come for the interview (today). Unfortunately attempts to reach them have been futile as their phones are either off or calls go unanswered,” said one Principal who sought for anonymity.

 According to this Principal, the panelists had waited till 12.00pm and when there were no signs of any applicant showing up, they decided to adjourn the exercise. “The officer in charge from TSC has instructed that we reach out to a qualified applicant so as to sign the contract form by next week,” he added.

Reasons for skipping the interviews

Most of the applicants who vowed skip the internships sighted a myriad of reasons; for their refusal to take up the slots. “The pay is too little. How can TSC pay a graduate a paltry Sh15,000 only!” wondered one applicant who was shortlisted but failed to go for interviews.

 “To make matters worse, the pay is subjected to statutory and other deductions. Also, there are no allowances for teacher interns as those paid to other TSC teachers. This is being inhuman. The Commission is taking graduate teachers for a ride. I shall not take up the offer,” she added. According to the applicants who skipped the interviews, these were the reasons for their actions:

  1. Low pay and lack of any allowances,
  2. The interview sessions are expensive in terms of huge fares to far flung areas with no surety of clinching the employment chance,
  3. Risk of missing permanent employment if the vacancies are advertised within the internship contract period,
  4. Many requirements like the risk cover, Certificate of Good Conduct and others,
  5. Discriminatory working conditions as interns will be subjected to thorough supervision from their permanent counterparts,
  6. No guarantee of permanent employment after the one year internship contract,
  7. Better pay under BOM (Board of Management) terms.

TSC forced to re-advertise vacancies

The Commission has been forced to re-advertise internship teacher vacancies in West Pokot. It is believed no applicant had shown interest prompting the TSC to put up the advert. “Teachers Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill 17 teacher internship posts for Secondary Schools in West Pokot County,” reads the new advert; in part.

THOME BOYS SECONDARY SCHOOL’S KCSE PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams. In the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school registered a total of 22 candidates who managed to score a mean of a B+(plus) with a performance index of 67.61. In 2019, the school had a total candidature of 54 students.

In the 2013 KCSE exams (its maiden national exams), the 22 candidates who wrote their exam had a mean score of 9.41. One had a straight A, four A- (minus), Six B+ (plus), Seven B (plain), One B- (minus, two C+ (plus) and one C (plain.) The student who scored the C (plain)did his exams from a hospital bed.

NAIROBI SCHOOL KCSE RESULTS ANALYSIS

Nairobi school is one of those schools that have upheld good performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams. December 2019 Heads and Principals transfer, delocalization list per county- Nakuru County

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has effected the December 2019 delocalization exercise for school heads. A number of Principals have been moved in Nakuru County. The handing/ taking over exercise for the administrators is expected to be completed before schools open for first term on January 6, 2020.

Those moved are heads and principals and their deputies serving in their home counties and those who have served in the same station for a long period. Also on the move are new administrators who were appointed after the just concluded interviews .

Teachers with medical conditions have been spared from the ongoing delocalization exercise. Also spared are teachers aged above 56 years and those set to retire.

The Commission kicked off the delocalization exercise in January, 2018. Other massive deployments would then follow in April, August and December of the same year. Though in April, 2019 the Commission slowed down the transfers as only a handful administrators were moved.

List of schools yet to upload 2020 form one selection list on Nemis per county- Garissa

About 5,397 schools are yet to upload their 2020 from one selection lists onto the National Education Management Information System, Nemis. This is according to the latest data from the Education Ministry. This mostly affects the Sub County and Private schools whose selection was done manually. The list detailing the school’s name and location indicates that the schools are yet to upload their selection lists onto their Nemis accounts in readiness for the admission exercise in January 2020.

The Education Ministry has set reporting date for the 2020 form ones to secondary schools to be between January Monday 13th to Friday 17th. This will be about one week after the other students would have reported back to school for the new year.

THE 2020 KCSE QUALIFYING TEST EXAMINATION TIMETABLE AND INSTRUCTIONS

1.0 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1.1 The examination will start at 8.30 a.m.
1.2 The time allowed for each paper is indicated against the name of the paper and NO EXTRA TIME IS TO BE ALLOWED. In case of any discrepancy, the time stated on the question paper should be taken as the correct one. Time for reading through questions is part of the time shown on the question paper except where special paper instructions indicate otherwise.
1.3 Supervisors and Invigilators are asked to ensure that candidates have written their names, index numbers and have signed on their answer scripts before they collect the answer scripts from each candidate while the candidates are advised to ensure that they take all the papers.

2.0 KCSE QT EXAMINATION PERIOD AND DATE

3.0 INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES TO SUB-COUNTY EXAMINATION OFFICERS AND CANDIDATES

3.1 Sub-County Examination Officers are advised to ensure that the candidates read these instructions and guidelines carefully and adhere to them. The candidates should be made aware of the penalties for examination irregularities or misconduct.

3.2 INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

3.2.1 Avail yourself for searching outside the examination room and be seated at your desk/table 15 minutes before the time fixed for the examination to start in the various papers. The first session will start at 8.30 a.m.
3.2.2 A candidate who arrives late will be required to give a satisfactory reason to the Supervisor. Only in exceptional circumstances will a paper be given to any candidate who is more than half an hour late. Absolute punctuality is essential for all papers.
3.2.3 Check the question paper you have been given to confirm that it is the paper you registered for.
3.2.4 Attend carefully to any general instructions that may be given on the first page of a paper, e.g. instructions limiting the number of questions that should be answered.
3.2.5 Check to ensure that each page of your question paper is printed.
3.2.6 Write your name and your index number on the answer booklet.
3.2.7 Write on both sides of the paper, but do not use the margins. Begin the answer to each separate part of a question on a fresh line.
3.2.8 Write the number of the question clearly in the left-hand margin at the beginning of each answer. Do not copy the question. Be careful to use the same system of numbering as appears in the question paper. Leave a blank line after the answer to each question.
3.2.9 Write your responses in black or blue ink. You may use fountain pen or ball point pen. Pencils should only be used for diagrams. Bring mathematical and drawing instruments for subjects for which they will be needed.
3.2.10 Read each question carefully. A lot of time may be wasted in writing down information that is not asked for and no marks will be given for it.
3.2.11 Do not spend too much time on one or two questions. Leave yourself adequate time to answer other questions.
3.2.12 As soon as notice is given to stop, make sure your name and index number is written on the answer booklet and then hand it over to the Supervisor/Invigilator.
3.2.13 Withdrawal from the examination should have been notified to the KNEC in writing before the examination begins.

3.3 CAUTION TO THE CANDIDATES

3.3.1 You are not allowed to leave the examination room before the end of the period allocated to the paper except with special permission from the supervisor. No candidate so permitted to leave may take question papers out of the examination room.
3.3.2 Do not leave a sheet of paper you have written on or your answer in such a position that another candidate can read them. You should not give or obtain unfair assistance, or attempt to do so, whether by copying or in any form and your work should not show proof of such unfair assistance.
3.3.3 No communication whatsoever in whatever manner between candidates or with outsiders is allowed during the examination.
3.3.4 You are not allowed to have in your possession or in your proximity while in the examination room, any books, notes, papers or any other materials whatsoever except the correct question papers and any materials expressly authorized by the Kenya National Examinations Council.
3.3.5 You may only use mathematical tables printed by the Kenya National Examinations council, and these should not contain any additional notes except the printed information. If you are using a calculator as permitted by the Regulations, it should be the specified non programmable calculator. If in doubt, check with the supervisor.
3.3.6 You must return immediately to the supervisor any question paper that has smudges or has errors or is badly printed.
3.3.7 You must not take any used or unused writing papers out of the examination room. Any rough work must be done on the official answer papers and, if not to be submitted with the answers, must be left on the desk to be collected by the supervisor and destroyed.
3.3.8 Any misconduct or causing of disturbance in or near the examination room will be treated as an examination irregularity.
3.3.9 Cell phones or any other electronic communication device are prohibited in examination centres. Any candidate caught in possession of a cell phone/any other electronic communication device will have his/her results cancelled.

3.4 PENALTY FOR EXAMINATION IRREGULARITIES

3.4.1 The KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012 Offences and Penalties stated in Sections 27 to 40 for cases of examination irregularities will apply.

Some of the highlights in these Sections state that:

3.4.1.1 A candidate who commits an examination irregularity in any paper will have the results for the whole subject cancelled. Such a candidate will not be entitled to a result and will be awarded result “Y” overall.
3.4.1.2 If there is evidence of wide-spread irregularities in any examination centre, the examination results for the whole centre will be cancelled.

3.4.1.3 Any person who:

a) gains access to examination material and knowingly reveals the contents, whether orally or in writing, to an unauthorized party, whether a candidate or not, will be in violation of Section 27 of the Act and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both;
b) willfully and maliciously damages examination material will be in violation of Section 30 of the Act and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding five million shillings or both;
c) is not registered to take a KNEC examination but, with intent to impersonate, presents or attempts to present himself to take the part of an enrolled candidate will be in violation of Section 31 of the Act, and shall be guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both and shall be prohibited from taking an examination conducted by or on behalf of the Council for a period of three years.
3.4.2 Please ensure that you do not commit any examination irregularity to avoid having your results cancelled.

STATEHOUSE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S KCSE RESULTS

Individual candidates can check their KCSE results by sending an SMS with their full index number (11digits) followed by the word KCSE. The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

One can also download the whole school’s KCSE results by Visiting the Official KNEC exams portal; https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/.  This one requires the school’s log in credentials.

Finally, candidates can visit the school for their results. This is usually a day after the results have been released. STATEHOUSE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

The site on which State House Girls’ High school stands was once a European hospital. The building of the hospital consisted of the present main administration block. The sisters’ mess was the present teacher’s houses, which are adjacent to the main gate to State House.

To make room for a school in January 1954 the hospital was moved to become the present day Nairobi hospital. The school was then started and was called the New Girls’ Secondary School. What was left of the hospital acted as a European Dispensary and for some time the school and the dispensary existed side by side.

At the end of 1955 the school was split into two, New Girls’ Secondary School and Highland school in Eldoret (now called Moi Girls’ School). The whole student body together with the headmistress and some equipment moved to Eldoret.

From 1956, the new student body consisting of boys’ and girls’ was started. The school was renamed to Delamere High School – Delamere was one of most striking European Settlers in Kenya. The school continued catering for boys’ and girls’ education for about two years when in 1958, the boys moved to a new school which was called Delamere Boys’ School (now called Upper Hill High School).

For about 10 years the school was known as Delamere Girls’ School. In 1967, it assumed the name State House Road Girls’ High School which later changed to the present name State House Girls High School omitting the word “Road”.

Earlier on, in 1961 the school’s administration had come under a Board of Governors. In 1973, the school was taken over by the Kenyan Government thus becoming a fully maintained government school.

From its foundation up to the early sixties the school remained exclusively for European girls. With the approaching independence the school opened its doors to other races both in the student composition and the teaching staff.

The first two Asian Girls were admitted in form one in 1962. These were Parviz Shirin Manji (1/1/1962) and Gwaderi Shamshad (15/1/1962). Unfortunately, Parviz died one year later in late September 1963 at H.H.Aga Khan Platinum Jubilee Hospital medical ward bed number:14 from heart hemorrhage while Gwaderi cleared her O – level and went to England.

The first African girls were admitted in 1964. These were Jessica Ngoya(Jan 1964) whose father Mr. H.W. Ngoya was Webuye division educational officer and Wamaitha Margaret Philomena (September 1964). Jessica went on to become the school’s first African prefect (1965) and eventually the first African head girl of the school in June 1966. Jessica Ngoya went on to become a lecturer at the University of Addis Ababa.

The first Chinese girl was admitted in 2011. Tian Ao Zhong (22/2/2011) is from Boye Middle School, Boye County, Boarding city, Hebei province in China. The first Asian teacher came in 1966 and shortly but progressively more and more Asian and African girls joined as more Europeans left Kenya after independence.

The first African headmistress was Mrs. M. W. Maina who replaced Miss McDonald. The school has and is still open to all races in Kenya and nationalities.

Apart from human development there has been a spectacular development in physical amenities. The school has expanded, adapted and improved.

In 1983-84 through the sponsorship of His Excellency the former and 2nd President of Kenya His Excellency Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi and his spirit of Harambee the first boarding block was built where in 1985 the first 360 borders moved in. A new boarding block was added in 2004 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the school.

The school has an excellent swimming pool built in the late sixties and was first opened on Wednesday 24, July , 1968, school hall and kitchen opened in 1964 by Miss Margaret Kenyatta; the daughter to the first president of Kenya, laboratories for sciences, home science and computers.

The school also has a modern library built in 2004. Currently, the school is six  streamed but because of the rising number of girls seeking to pursue their secondary education here, the school is in the process of expanding to a seven streamed school.

NOONKOPIR GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY
The school started humbly in 1987 as a mixed day harambee school in classes borrowed from the Athi River Prison Primary School.
By the end of the first year,the school became boarding after a temporary structure was put up to accomodate the boys.In 1988 the girls were given some old structures that served as a dormitory.This went on untill 1989 when classes were completed in the current site that has an acreage of 23.5 when the students started going for tuition in the school and would go back to the borrowed temporary facilities provided by the prisons department.This went on untill 1998 when the school moved to its current site after two dormitories for boys and girls as well as two units of teachers house were constructed.In 2002 the school became purely a girls school.
The students population has since grown from 21 in 1997 to current 460.It is expected that by 2018 the population will have moved to 540 after school becomes fully 3 streamed 23 TSC teachers,4 BOM teachers and 19 support staff.The school has since grown in infrastructure to modern facilities which include 12 classrooms,3 science laboratories,1 computer laboratory,1 multipurpose hall and kitchen facilities,3 dormitories,5 teachers houses and 14 workers houses.The school has also sunk a borehole,purchased a school bus and established a
