Did your KCSE examination and attained the minimum University Entry Grade and have been selected to join Rongo University? Well. Congratulations on this your major achievement. Students joining Rongo university are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after doing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

Once the applications are closed, KUCCPS then places the KCSE students in preferred courses depending on the student’s score, number of available vacancies against applicants among other selection criteria. In not satisfied with the University that you have been selected to join then you can apply for Inter-Institution Transfer.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.

Occupational Therapy is skilled treatment by means of activity. Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. These learning modules include: Full time, School Based, Distance Learning, Evening & Weekend classes and E-Learning.

KMTC final year students receive PPEs from Kenya Covid-19 Fund Board and Equity Group

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has received surgical masks for use by final year students during clinical practice.

The 500,000 masks were a donation from the Kenya Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund Board in partnership with the Equity Group Foundation.

KMTC has 8,292 final year students who are currently undertaking their clinical practice in various health facilities across the country, ahead of their graduation this year.

The clinical practice involves actual medical services to patients thus the risk of exposure to COVID-19 is high.

Presiding over the handover ceremony held at the KMTC headquarters on February 9, 2021, Secretary to the Kenya Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund Board Kennedy Kihara said the masks will go along away in protecting frontline health workers against the Coronavirus as they serve in the various medical facilities across the country.

“Health care workers are our soldiers, and we have to equip them with protective gear so that they are not exposed to the virus” he said. “We will keep replenishing the face masks to ensure our students are safeguarded as they complete their training and thereafter join the health sector to bridge the human resource for health gaps not only in the country but also internationally.

He acknowledged the College’s contribution towards the management of COVID-19 by providing its facilities for use as quarantine and isolation facilities.

“KMTC is a major cog in the wheels of healthcare service delivery in the country, therefore the masks will complement its mandate of producing competent workforce for the health sector” he said.

He added that the collaboration will extend beyond COVID-19 and affirmed that KMTC students are welcome to use the Equity Afia Clinics as their training and incubation centres during clinical practice and when they complete their training.

Representing the KMTC Board Chairperson, Board Director Dr. Martin Sirengo said the COVID-19 epidemic has presented unique challenges whose negative effects can only be mitigated by collective effort.

He therefore thanked the Equity Group and the COVID-19 Fund Board for the donation “which will benefit over 8,000 final year students, who will upon their graduation undoubtedly propel the country towards the attainment of specific health-related targets, including management of emerging and re-emerging diseases”.

On the other hand, Equity Group Chief Commercial Officer Polycarp Igathe said, Equity is ready to collaborate with KMTC to enhance healthcare service delivery, provide solutions and response to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Equity Group is determined to offer solutions to frontline healthcare workers who are the only clear, strongest, leverage and intervention in tackling the COVID-19”, he said.

He commended the College’s extensive geographical distribution of 71 campuses across 43 out of the 47 counties in the country, thus representing the largest population of healthcare workers in the country. “KMTC is right on top in offering in-depth skilled training in the medical profession” he added.

KMTC CEO, Prof. Michael Kiptoo, said the donation of masks is timely, coming at a time when the Government had up-scaled efforts to protect medics, who are in the frontline in the fight against COVID-19. “The beneficiary Students are part and parcel of the medical personnel providing essential service in our health facilities”, he noted.

KMTC Deputy Director in charge of Finance, Planning and Administration Dr. Kelly Oluoch said since the onset of COVID-19 in the county, the College has been instrumental in supporting Government in the fight against the epidemic.

The College availed its 44 Campuses with a bed capacity of 3,397, which hosted 5,077 clients in quarantine and isolation, for a cumulative 55,754 days.

“As part of efforts of giving back to society, KMTC conducted health education and promotion, donated hand washing facilities and provided mental health and psycho-social support, to mitigate against the effects of Coronavirus.

He welcomed the donation saying the surgical masks will make the students feel safe and protected as they serve and interact with patients in health facilities.

Speaking on behalf of students, Asher Otiende, who is studying Clinical Medicine and Surgery in KMTC Nairobi said some students come from needy backgrounds and are financially challenged so they cannot afford protective gear including surgical masks.

“The surgical masks issued today will help us finish our clinical exams well and offer much-needed protection as we execute our duties” he added.

The College will constitute an Institutional Liaison Committee mandated to receive and monitor distribution, proper usage as well as re-order PPEs to ensure the supply is consistently replenished for use by the Students.

As a strategic partner under the Ministry of Health, the College continues to partner with like-minded institutions to manage COVID-19, by availing requisite infrastructure and personnel.

THE KABARAK UNIVERSITY EDUCATION COURSES
The university offers a wide range of education courses in its Faculty of Education. Minimum University entrance Bachelors Degree requirements

Bachelor’s degree programmes require a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. OR

A minimum of Credit Pass at diploma level or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions. OR

2 Principal Passes at ‘A’ level obtained at one sitting OR two Principal Passes obtained at different sittings provided the scores are of grade C and above.

Applicants must also meet additional entry requirement as may be specified by respective departments.

Applications from mature students will be considered subject to them satisfying the University’s Conditions of Admission.

Diploma holders in teacher education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE and two years’ experience in teaching.

P1 teachers certificate holders with a minimum of C+ at KCSE and two years of teaching experience.

A student can choose a combination of two subjects from those listed here. Students joining University of Kabianga (UOK) are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after doing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.

MACHAKOS TTC LOCATION

Machakos TTC (mateco.ac.ke) is a public registered institution that is located in Machakos county; within the Eastern region of Kenya.

MACHAKOS TTC BRIEF HISTORY

Machakos Teachers’ Training College is a Public College which was started by the Colonial government and opened its doors on 4th March, 1958. The Institution was established to train female teachers and had 64 students in four classes offering T3, T2, T1 and T1- up-grader teacher training courses. The first Principal was Miss A.C. Shrubsole.

In 1965 male students joined the College making it co-educational. They had been transferred from Tumutumu Teachers’ College in Nyeri. In 1968 MATECO got the first African Principal, Mr. P. G. King’ori. By then the student population had risen to 240. The College continued to train P1 and P2 teachers up to 1982. From then on it has been fully devoted to training P1 teachers only.

Students’ recruitment to the institution is based on a quota system worked out by the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, that is, qualified students are admitted from all the Counties in the country. MATECO is unique in that, it trains regular students as well as students with hearing, visual and physical impairment.

Currently, MATECO has a teaching staff of 73 lecturers, 63 support staff and student population of 963.

MACHAKOS TTC COURSES

The TTC offers both certificate and diploma courses.

MACHAKOS TTC APPLICATION FORM & INTAKES REQUIREMENTS

Intakes for new students to TTCs usually occur in August/September, every year.

MACHAKOS TTC COURSES APPLICATION PROCEDURE VIA THE KUCCPS STUDENT PORTAL

An applicant selected to join Machakos Teachers’ College becomes a bona fide students through the process of registration.

The requirements for registration are as follows:-

Letter of invitation (not a photocopy)
Original National Identity Card
Original academic certificates
Full fees in BANKERS CHEQUE, MONEY ORDER or BANKING SLIP

A student who for any reason, fails to register at the college for admission on the officially specified date will not be readmitted but will be made to apply afresh through Ministry of Education Science and Technology.

A student selected to join a particular public Teacher Training College cannot transfer to another without the authority of the Ministry of Education.

A student who is found with forged certificates will not be registered but will be handed over to the police.

This is the main procedure through which you can file your application.

Applications are made online at the Kenya Universities & Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)’s website: – www.kuccps.net on specified dates when the site is announced open for applications. However, students who miss this dates may apply directly to the College.
Applicants who sat for KCSE in 2011 and previous years and have not benefited from any Government Sponsorship are also eligible to apply.

MACHAKOS TTC MINIMUM DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION COURSE QUALIFICATIONS:

TTCs offer training for both Science (Diploma in Education Science) and Arts (Diploma in Education Arts) teachers. The diploma course lasts for 3 academic years. It is a pre-requisite from the Ministry of Education that aspiring secondary school teachers should have the below minimum KCSE qualifications for entry into DTE (Diploma in Teacher Education) course. Here are the latest general minimum requirements for students seeking to pursue teaching:

Mean grade: C+ (plus)
English: C (plain)
Mathematics: D+ (plus) for those taking education arts and C (plain) for those hoping to undertake training in education science.
Two specialization subjects (subjects you intend to teach at high school): C+

Admission Requirements

This admission offer is made on the basis of the statement of your qualifications as presented by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or other approved examination bodies. As a student you will be expected to register for courses in your degree programme. Any change of Faculty or Department will be permitted only by approval of the University Authorities. A bona fide student will be considered to be one registered in the University during a current academic year. Students unable to register in the academic year may Defer their studies or take an Academic Leave for that academic year. This should be done by writing a letter to the office of the Registrar (Academic Affairs), stating reasons for deferment to the next academic year. The deferment period shall be one (1) academic year renewable continuously up to a maximum of three (3) academic years.
