Kisii Campus KMTC Intake and Admissions Details
In order to join the Kenya Medical Training College, you have to apply online through the KMTC website: https://www.kmtc.ac.ke.
There are two intakes during an academic year, the March intake and the September intake.
Upon successful application, the candidate will join the college either in March or September.

Kisii Campus KMTC Minimum Entry Requirements for Certificate, Diploma, and Higher Diploma Courses
The minimum entry requirement for admissions to pursue a KMTC Certificate Course is a minimum aggregate of C- in KCSE. In addition, specific qualifications in cluster subjects will be looked into.
For Diploma Courses: a minimum mean grade of C plain (or its equivalent) in KCSE is mandatory, in addition, a combination of other subjects such as English, Kiswahili, Biology, Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Sciences, matters a lot.
Higher Diploma Courses require a minimum of a basic Diploma in relevant fields, and at least a minimum of two years working experience.

Other than using the Kisii County Referral and Teaching Hospital next to the Campus, students also use Rural Health facilities within and outside Kisii County for their clinical experience. These clinical areas include:
Our students have their skills further developed in various practical areas, majorly the Kisii County Referral and Teaching Hospital. Other county and sub county hospitals within the country also serve this purpose, same as rural demonstration health centres identified.
In order for our students to gain a hands-on experience and specialized placement, the various County Teaching and Referral Hospitals are also used.

Students on the campus get involved in Sports, Societies, and Clubs, of their choice. There are numerous activities that a student can indulge in.
Various sporting activities exist in the Campus as well as the infrastructure to support them. These include playing fields for football, volley ball, handball, basketball and netball. The Campus does exceptionally well in indoor games notably table tennis, badminton, chess, darts and scrabble.

The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.
One can also download the whole school’s KCSE results by Visiting the Official KNEC exams portal; https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/. This one requires the school’s log in credentials.
Finally, candidates can visit the school for their results. This is usually a day after the results have been released. It is important that you check your result slip to ensure there are no errors on it. Be keen to see that details such as your name, index number and sex are accurate. TSC Advises Principals to Support, Not Punish, Struggling Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is encouraging school principals to assist teachers who are experiencing difficulties, rather than resorting immediately to disciplinary measures. This appeal was articulated by Japhat Kariuki, the Nyanza Regional TSC Director, during a recent conference of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) held in Kisumu.
Kariuki emphasized the importance of thoroughly investigating the issues that affect teachers, such as alcohol consumption or personal challenges, prior to contemplating any formal actions. Educators often encounter social obstacles, like familial disputes, that can adversely impact their performance. “When teachers are encountering difficulties, they ought not to be condemned; they should be supported in their efforts to regain stability,” he asserted.
Cavin Anyuor, a TSC Legal Officer, clarified that the power to interdict teachers lies with school heads, not the TSC. He advised principals to ensure that any interdictions are founded on serious and legitimate reasons, rather than insignificant matters. For instance, there was a recent case where a headteacher penalized a Junior School teacher by withholding a chair.
The TSC is promoting the involvement of principals in the Teacher Induction Mentorship and Coaching (TIMEC) program. This initiative seeks to formalize support systems such as induction, mentorship, and coaching, concentrating on both preventive and remedial approaches to managing teachers.
Kariuki noted that many principals do not adequately induct new teachers, leaving them feeling disoriented. He urged school leaders to take responsibility for orienting new teachers to their roles, which includes comprehending professional responsibilities, laws, and procedures. This facilitates the development of emotional intelligence in teachers and cultivates a positive institutional culture.
He further recommended that teachers facing challenges with classroom management might benefit from mentorship from seasoned colleagues. Furthermore, principals should assist teachers in balancing their professional and personal lives, particularly when familial issues emerge.
Kariuki concluded by challenging school heads to institutionalize coaching, thereby ensuring that teachers consistently enhance their skills and attain higher professional standards.

MOI GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL, KAMUSINGA’S BRIEF HISTORY
Moi Girls Kamusinga started as a harambee school in 1973 on Kamusinga A.C. Primary ground. The establishment was spearheaded by Reverend Jesse Okadapau, an Anglican Church Parish Vicar. The primary school classrooms were used for first batch of twenty seven students who were all day-scholars from the neighborhood.
In 1981 the government took over the running of this school. The school changed its name from CPK Kamusinga Girls to Moi Girls High School Kamusinga on 1st February 1988 when His Excellency the former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, visited the school and held a Harambee which helped the school to expand its land to twenty eight acres from five. He later donated a bus to the school.
The first Head Teacher was Mr. Mathias Kinanja (now deceased) before Mr. Isaac Wanyonyi took over. Mrs Mary Ndinyo took over in 1978 and headed the school up to 1992. Senior Principal Mrs. Winfrida Wanjala led the school up to 2001 when she handed it over to Mrs Waliula. After Mrs Waliula we now have Dr.Josephine Wanyama at the helm.
Moi Girls High School became a full boarding in 1993 with two streams. A third stream was started in 1993 before a fourth one was started in 1994. Currently the school has Eight streams and the population of 1228 students 52 teachers and 34 support staff.
Moi Girls’ High School Has been a Champion in Handball National champions from 2012 to date and East Africa Champions in 2013 in Gulu Uganda and 2016 In Kenya.

BURA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY
Bura girls is a catholic sponsored school that started as a day primary girls and boys school in the 1920’s, moving to girls intermediate boarding primary in the 1940’s and also a teacher training college (St. Joseph) around the same time.
It became a one streamed Girls high school in 1965 under the Leadership of Sr. Philothea a Precious Blood Sister (German). The second stream which was harambee was introduced in 1974. In 1990 the school was handed over to the Africans and Rev. Sr. Dorothy Mshai (St. Joseph Sister) became the first African head teacher. Sr. Mshai handed over the school to Mrs. Lucy Mwawasi on 31st December, 1993- the first lay person to head the school. Mrs. Mwawasi handed over the school on 14th April, 1999 to Mrs. Lilian Mwalekwa. On 11th January, 2011 Mrs. Mwalekwa handed over the leadership to Mrs. Marietta Mwambanda. Later December,2011 the leadership was handed over to Mrs. Polly Asikoye. On January,2014 Mrs. Asikoye handed over the leadership to Mrs. Assumpta M.Munyao, the current principal.
The school started three streams in 2005 and became complete 3 streams in 2008. On March 2010, the school was registered as four streamed school with a population of 682. Currently the school population is 700
The school currently has 28 teacher. There are also 24 non-teaching staff.

The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams. In the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school featured in the list of top 200 schools nationally. This is after recording a mean score of 7.22 (C+ plus).
