KUCCPS Releases Eligibility Criteria and Minimum Requirements for Admissions

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has outlined the eligibility criteria and minimum requirements for students wishing to be placed in various higher education institutions.

As per KUCCPS, applicants aiming for placement in public or private universities must be Kenyan citizens, as non-citizens are currently not eligible for university placements in Kenya. However, non-Kenyans can apply for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education programs, and programs at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

Additionally, applicants must have taken the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, which is conducted annually by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

Minimum Kuccps placement Requirements

To apply for degree, diploma, certificate, and artisan courses through KUCCPS, candidates must meet certain minimum requirements. Specifically, those seeking a degree must achieve a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus), while diploma applicants need at least a C- (minus). For certificate courses, a minimum grade of D+ (plus) in KCSE is required.

KUCCPS emphasizes that only candidates who apply through its platform will be considered for the programs they select. To be eligible for a particular course, applicants must fulfill the minimum admission criteria listed on the KUCCPS Students’ Portal.

KUCCPS stated, “Placement is conducted based on merit, and an approved Affirmative Action Criteria (including Gender, Persons with Disabilities, and Marginalized Regions) is applied to facilitate access to higher education.” However, obtaining a preferred course is competitive and depends on the qualifications of all applicants and the number of available spots in the program.

How to Apply for Kuccps placement

KUCCPS announces placement application details through both print and electronic media.

Applicants need to log into the KUCCPS Student Portal at students.kuccps.net. Once on the portal, they will be prompted to enter their KCSE index number, the year of examination, and their password. Students are advised to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number as their password.

This update comes shortly after KUCCPS announced the opening of its portal for university course applications this week.
