Most important Knec Portals and Online Services

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is mandated with administration of National Tests and Examinations. The Exams Council uses several official portals for different online services.

Here are the most common KNEC portals:

1. Examination Registration Portals (For Institutions/ Exam Centres)

These are primarily for Heads of Institutions to register candidates for various examinations:

  • Primary/Secondary School Portals:

    • Used for registration of candidates for national exams like KJSEA, KCSE, KPSEA, and KILEA.

  • Teacher Education Portals:

    • For registration of candidates for exams like Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education (DECTE), etc.

  • Business and Technical Examinations (TVET) Portals:

    • For registration of candidates for Business Education Single & Group (BES&G), and Technical Exams (BTEP).

2. KNEC Contracted Professionals (CP2) Portal

This portal is used for:

  • Recruitment and Payment: Registration of examiners, supervisors, invigilators, and other contracted professionals involved in examination administration.

  • Link: You can usually access the registration process through a link like http://cp2.knec.ac.ke/ (or via SMS registration to a KNEC-specified number).

3. Examiners’ Portal (Item Writers/Assessors)

This portal is for selected professionals for duties such as marking or item writing.

4. Query Management Information System (QMIS)

This portal is used by the public to manage queries related to examination results and certificates:

  • Services: Certification (replacement) of lost certificates, Confirmation of Examination Results, Equation of Foreign Certificates, and amendments to candidate bio-data.

5. CBA Portal

This is the portal for Competency Based Assessment (CBA), typically used by teachers to submit assessment data for the new curriculum.
