How to Select Grade 10 Subjects and schools

To select Grade 10 schools and subjects under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya, Grade 9 learners should first choose a career pathway (STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts & Sports Science). Then, they’ll select three subject combinations within that pathway and finally, choose four schools for each combination, totaling 12 schools. To select preferred Grade 10 Schools and Subject Combinations, use the Ministry of Education portal selection.education.go.ke.

1. How you can Choose a Career Pathway:

  • Identify your interests and potential career aspirations.
  • Select one of the three pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts & Sports Science.
  • Confirm your choice to proceed with the pathway.

2. Select Subject Combinations:

  • The portal will provide you with a list of subject combinations available within your chosen pathway.
  • Choose three subject combinations that align with your interests and strengths.

3. Select Preferred Senior Schools:

  • For each subject combination, select four schools from the available clusters.
  • This ensures a diverse range of options and equal representation from different categories of schools.
  • A total of 12 schools will be selected: 4 for the first subject combination, 4 for the second, and 4 for the third.

Ministry of Education Initiates Recruitment of Teachers for Special Needs Education Course

Ministry of Education Initiates Recruitment of Teachers for Special Needs Education Course

The Ministry of Education has declared the initiation of recruitment for current teachers for a two-year full-time Special Needs Education (SNE) Diploma course at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) commencing in 2025.

This program is aimed at existing Teachers Service Commission (TSC) personnel who intend to specialize in educating learners with disabilities.

In an official statement, the ministry urged qualified teachers to submit applications for the in-service course, with specializations offered in various domains such as visual, physical, and hearing impairments; intellectual disabilities; autism; and deafblind education.

Teachers interested in this intake have been instructed to procure the application forms from the ministry’s website or visit their county and sub-county education offices.

“All serving TSC teachers who wish to be considered for admission to KISE for the two-year full-time SNE Diploma in-service course are hereby informed that application forms are now accessible and may either be downloaded from the Ministry of Education website or obtained from the nearest CDEs/SCDEs’ offices,” the statement from Education PS Julius Bitok partially read.

Furthermore, upon completion of the application forms, the county education offices will be required to forward them to the ministry’s headquarters located in Nairobi.

“Duly completed application forms must be submitted personally by the applicant to the SCDE by May 9, 2025. All applications shall be forwarded by the office of the SCDE to Jogoo House B, Room 710,618/19, no later than May 16, 2025. ”

Applicants must be citizens of Kenya, under the age of 50, possess a P1 certificate, and have a minimum of five years of service as TSC teachers.

Bitok highlighted that the registration procedure will incur no charges for the teachers.

Each applicant will be mandated to present their application in person and furnish original and certified copies of academic and professional documents, a national ID or passport, a recent passport photograph, and any other pertinent testimonials.

The PS specified that applicants with visual impairments are exempt from the obligation to handwrite their application forms.

Successful candidates will receive SMS notifications containing information on how to access their admission letters.
