HOW TO WRITE A NOTICE- ENGLISH NOTES

DEPARTMENTAL TEMPLATE NOTES

LESSON NOTES FOR FORM TWO WEEK THREE

TOPIC: WRITING

SUB-TOPIC: NOTICE

TEACHER: ………………………………………..TSC NO……………… CLASS………………….TIME……….

Main syllabus objective

By the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to legibly write a notice using the right format, content, language and tone.

Tpic outline

  • Definition of a notice
  • Reasons for writing a notice
  • How to write a notice
  1. a) What is a notice

It is brief piece of paper written by a person or institution giving written information to a target group which is usually put in public places.

  1. b) Why write a notice
  • To inform/ notify people of: events, meetings, changes in routine, new appointments, new deployments etc
  • To give warning to a group of people
  1. c) How to write a notice
  2. Read the question and comprehend the major function of the notice and other hints such as activity, place, time, target group etc. (Notices focusing on school events are the best fr practice)
  3. Write the right format
    1. When writing or designing a notice, your focus has to be on writing a notice and not drawing a notice since English test communication ability using words. Any standard question on notice will give room for enough writing based on student’s environment. (Ignore content in text books with drawings as notice.)
    2. Write the letter-head (name) of the institution or club sending the notice
    3. Write date on right hand side- a good advent has a date to help target audience know it is a recent advert
    4. Give a notice call or invitation in bold eg. NOTICE!
    5. Sign the notice by name/job title/ organizagion/ management.
    6. Frame the notice- for purposes of exam, never focus on making the frame flashy.
    7. Drawing- sketch an eye catching picture capturing the theme of the notice can be drawn. (Do not focus on drawing; it is composition writing)
  4. Write the right content- content to focus on:
  5. a) Activity or event- what you are notifying, b)Place- where it is. c) Time and day- when it will be in terms of day, date and time, d) Target population for the notice, f) the conditions such as fee and rules g) any other issue in the rubrics if the question, h) contacts for the main contact person such as email or telephone, i) a parting short such as “Welcome.’
  6. Write the right language
  7. Language must aim at notifying or stating the information as it is and not convincing/persuading the target as done in an advertisement notice.
  8. Writing in note form is better than prosodic form when writing the body of a notice
  9. Be brief- nobody likes reading long notices
  10. Most important information is bolded/capitalized/undelined
  11. Notice call is caligraphed (use blue, black and pencil only)

Early Grade Literacy Programme Launched under the Tusome initiative as text books’ prices are reduced

The Government through the Tusome programme model, managed to reduce the prices of textbooks by more than 50 per cent of the prevailing cost for class One and Two pupils in public primary schools.

He said the introduction of the 1:1 textbook to pupils has greatly improved the performance of pupils in public primary schools. The Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education, Dr. Julius Jwan, noted that the model has made the government adopt a cheaper way of buying textbooks in schools.

Jwan said the government had enabled every learner in primary school to have textbooks in all learning areas, a move he said, has enabled the learners to study more than had been in the past.

The PS  made the remarks at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), when presiding over the launch of a Report on Early Grade Literacy programme that the government, jointly with USAID introduced to improve the teaching and learning of literacy in all public primary schools in the country.

The Tusome programme was funded by USAID at the cost of Sh 8.88 billion and targeted 5.4 million class One and Two pupils in public primary schools in the country.

“The revision that the government was undertaking on Tusome textbooks underscores the dynamic nature of the curriculum,” the PS said, while noting that the curriculum is a living thing.

Jwan assured all stakeholders that the changes were aimed at ensuring harmony and continuing relevance of the curriculum taught and learned in schools.

As part of the Tusome programme, the Mission Director, USAID Kenya and East Africa, Mr Mark Meassick, said that the Ministry and USAID had developed and distributed 26 million books aligned to the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC).

“We have put CBC aligned English and Kiswahili books into the hands of every Kenyan school child and their teachers,” Meassick said, reiterating that the programme had led to positive gains in learning outcomes.

Among dignitaries who graced the occasion included; the Chief Executive Officer, KICD, Prof. Charles Ong’ondo, the Chief Executive Officer, Kenya National Examination Council, Dr. David Njengere, and other senior education officers.

KMTC Rachuonyo Campus: Courses, Fees, Location, Contacts and Programs plus Requirements

KMTC Rachuonyo Campus

Background Information

KMTC Rachuonyo Campus is a community initiative championed by the then Kasipul Constituency member of parliament, supported by the KMTC Board of Directors and Homabay County Government. It was officially opened in March 2016. The Campus is situated on a two-acre land curved out of Rachuonyo Sub County Hospital which is located behind Rachuonyo Sub County Hospital along Oyugis – Kendu Bay road.

The Campus was started as a result of shortage of health personnel to serve the public in health facilities. In 2013, there were no qualified nurses in the Constituency to be employed by the County Government to offer medical services, hence the community thought it wise to have a local College that would train nurses and other medical staff to meet their health needs.

The Campus structures were curved out of the Rachuonyo Sub County Hospital and an additional tuition block was built in 2017 consisting of four lecture halls. This was done by the National Government – Constituency Development Fund (Kasipul Constituency) under the leadership of the then MP Hon. Oyugi Magwanga.

The first batch of 75 students were admitted in May 2016 with a total population of 75 students pursuing Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology. Diploma in Health Promotion was started in September 2016 while upgrading of Health Records and Information Technology started in September 2018. In line with the attainment of Universal Health Coverage, the Campus started Certificate in Community Health Assistant in March 2019.

Programmes and Courses currently offered: –

  • Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology
  • Upgrading of Health Records and Information Technology

Egoji TTC 2020/2021 intake, courses, requirements, contacts, fees, admission letters: Diploma in Education Latest News

Get all details about St. Lawrence Egoji Teachers College; Diploma Teachers Training College Courses, Fees Structure, Admission Requirements, Application Form and Contacts. Check all the details in this post.

EGOJI TTC LOCATION

Egoji TTC is located in Igoji East division near Igoji market in Meru county.

EGOJI TTC BRIEF HISTORY

St. Lawrence Egoji Teachers’ College was established in 1959 by the Catholic Diocese of Meru. It was founded by the Consolata fathers led by the first Bishop of Meru RT. Rev. Victor Bessone and Rev. Fr. La-Greca who was the first principal and chaplain.

To-date the college has successfully trained 24,067 teachers who are serving not only in Kenya but also in Africa and other parts of the world. I can confidently state that Egoji Teachers’ Training College has made tremendous impact in both academic and co-curricular activities.

St. Lawrence Egoji Teachers’ College, by its history and position finds itself with the inherent role of providing training in the domain of Teacher Education in Kenya. As a country, we have experienced the impact of globalization and ICT revolution among other emerging trends that has necessitated the government to reform the education and training sector to respond to these emerging challenges.

The college must therefore respond by identifying the opportunities and avenues of creating new partnerships and collaborations, resulting in remarkable improvements in teacher education nationwide and strengthening the quality of life.

The tertiary education sub-sector in Kenya has experienced moderate growth over the last 40 years. However, it faces challenges in producing adequate and skilled middle level human resource required to meet the demands for national development.

The college is therefore compelled to chart a new strategic direction guided by a shared vision, strategic thinking and agility, – while at the same time being increasingly aware of the importance of its position in a national context. It is against this backdrop that has necessitated the development of the 2017-2022 strategic plan upon which the management of the college affairs will be based.

The College formulated its first five-year Strategic plan (2009 to 2014) which guided its operations from 2009 to 2013. The strategic plan was reviewed in 2013, and culminated in the second Strategic Plan (2013-2017). The review arose from the need to integrate and incorporate national development priorities in the College agenda as articulated in the Kenya Vision 2030, the new constitution of Kenya 2010 and other government policies.

Through this strategic plan, the college intends to marshal its acknowledged strengths around identified opportunities in order to address its weaknesses and minimize threats associated with its development, transformation and contribution to the national agenda and the society in general.

The College developed a quality management system and was accredited with ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2013 by the Kenya Bureau of Standards, and prides itself in being the first Teacher training college in Kenya to acquire this prestigious certification. The motto of the College is ‘Lucere Ardere’ translated as: ‘burn to enlighten’.
