TSC lists documents required in teacher replacement verification 2025

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has begun contacting teachers who applied for the 2,014 replacement teaching positions, for which applications closed on May 19, 2025.

TSC organized 2,014 teaching vacancies in an advertisement, with 1,309 in primary schools, 32 in junior schools, and 673 in secondary schools.

The job is permanent and eligible for a pension plan (PNP). For primary school openings, the Commission stated that a P1 certificate was the bare minimum qualification, while a degree in education was required for junior and secondary schools.

The Commission has identified the academic and professional papers that must be shown to the recruiting board for verification.

For verification, applicants must provide legible photocopies of the following items, among other pertinent documents:

List of documentation necessary for verifying primary school instructors

1) A national identification card;

2) Proof of registration as an instructor;

3) Proof of the successful completion of an Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education or, if applicable, a UDPTE Certificate.

4) PTE certification;

5) KCSE credentials or its equivalent (include certificates for tries if one retook the test);

6) KCPE certificate or its equivalent (if one took the exam again, include certificates for the attempts);

7) if applicable, a letter of certification of the findings by KNEC;

8) Leaving Certificates from Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as other pertinent evidence;

9) National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if applicable);

10) An affidavit stating the reason for the discrepancy in names, sworn in accordance with the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya.

List of materials necessary for confirming post primary school teachers (JSS and Secondary)

a) national identity card;

b) Certification of registration as a teacher.

c) official transcripts and a diploma/degree certificate;

d) KCSE certificates or their equivalent (include certificates for attempts if one re-sat exams);

e) the KCPE certificate or its equivalent (if the candidate re-sat the exam, include certificates for the attempts);

f) other pertinent certifications and certificates for graduating from elementary and high school;

g) where applicable, the National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card;

h) A statement made under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya, to account for the discrepancy in names;

i) KNEC’s letter of certification of results (where applicable).

However, during the verification process, intern teachers who have received a 50-point score in the scoresheet will just need to show their identification.

Individuals with disabilities must disclose both their disability status and the kind of disability to facilitate their placement.

The TSC Sub-County Director will prepare a Merit List of all candidates whose papers have been verified following the verification procedure.

According to the Data Protection Act of 2019, the Merit Lists must be made accessible to the general public upon request in a way that does not compromise the recruiting process.
