ABOUT THE COURSE

Actuarial Science is a branch of science that uses Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Financial knowledge to model and manage future uncertainty in the financial and insurance industries.

COURSE DURATION

The Course takes the below specified time frames, depending on the type of student’s entry:

The program takes a total of nine semesters with two semesters planned per academic year.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Insurance firms, pension and benefits and other similar organizations require services of actuaries in pricing products and minimize future risks.

The course prepares a student for a career as an actuarial scientist concerned with the construction of models and solutions for financial, business and societal problems involving uncertain future events. The course is international in its focus and is based on approved
guidelines for higher education in Kenya. The graduates are expected to find employment in the insurance, employee benefits, pension, banks, management consulting industry, brokerage houses, and software development companies (e.g. writing software
for pension managers and risk analysts), among others

Kshs 280 million KMTC Campus set to open its doors in Marsabit County

The Kshs 280 million Kenya Medical Training College Campus being built at Marsabit town, Marsabit County, will receive its first batch of students in March 2021.

This was agreed during a consultative meeting helď today Friday March 12, 2021 between KMTC Board of Directors led by Chairperson @Prof. Philip Kaloki and the County Governor Hon. Muhamud M. Ali in Marsabit town.

The new campus, which is at 92 percent completion, is the first of its kind in the county, and will start with three courses namely foundation course in community health, health records and information and certificate in community health assistant, Prof. Kaloki said.

The Governor committed his full support towards making the Campus fully operational, including purchasing a bus, a utility vehicle, library books, adequate furniture, and other teaching and learning equipment.

The County has set aside more land for expansion of the Campus, he said.

With the Chairperson were Board Director Mr Mithamo Muchiri, Deputy Registrar (Admission) Mr Thomas Kisukwa, Isiolo Campus Principal Mrs Agnes Linus, Regional Coordinator (Eastern) Mr David Okach, Resource Mobilization Manager Kamau Maina, and Board Secretariat’s Mr Dickson Kimathi.

Sat for your KCSE examination and attained the minimum University Entry Grade and have been selected to join Bomet University College (BUC)? Well. Congratulations for this your major achievement. Students joining Bomet University College (BUC) are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after doing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

Once the applications are closed, KUCCPS then places the KCSE students in preferred courses depending on the student’s score, number of available vacancies against applicants among other selection criteria. In not satisfied with the University that you have been selected to join then you can apply for Inter-Institution Transfer.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.

KMTC Courses 2021/2022- Are you looking for information on KMTC courses? The Kenya Medical Training College, KMTC, offers training in a wide range of medical and health fields. There are a number of programmes on offer for both Fresh KCSE graduates and those already in practice.

Each programme has its own set minimum requirements and study duration (as outlined below). In this feature, a detailed guide on all the courses’ requirements, how to make your application and fees has been provided; as stipulated by KMTC.

KMTC has about 68 Campuses across the Country. Intakes usually occur in March and September; every year.

HOW TO APPLY FOR KMTC 2021/2022 COURSES ONLINE

All applications are made ONLINE with an application fee of Ksh. 2022 payable via MPESA pay bill No. 964150 following the procedure outlined on the KMTC website (www.kmtc.ac.ke).

The Regular category have subsidized fee with optional accommodation but no choice for campus while the parallel category have non subsidized fee, no accommodation option but have option for campuses choice in more than sixty five (65) campuses situated in different parts of the country depending on the courses.

Entry Requirements

To join KMTC to pursue a Certificate course, you must have a minimum of C- with specific qualifications in cluster subjects in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE).

For Diploma programmes, you must have attained a minimum of C with specific qualifications in cluster subjects. Upgrading courses require that a candidate has a certificate in a respective field while for Higher Diploma programmes, candidates must have attained a Diploma course as per the following guidelines.

Students joining university are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students.

Admission Requirements

This admission offer is made on the basis of the statement of your qualifications as presented by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or other approved examination bodies. As a student you will be expected to register for courses in your degree programme. Any change of Faculty or Department will be permitted only by approval of the University Authorities. A bona fide student will be considered to be one registered in the University during a current academic year. Students unable to register in the academic year may Defer their studies or take an Academic Leave for that academic year. This should be done by writing a letter to the office of the Registrar (Academic Affairs), stating reasons for deferment to the next academic year. The deferment period shall be one (1) academic year renewable continuously up to a maximum of three (3) academic years. Reasons for deferment shall normally be due to: Financial reasons; compassionate reasons; medical reasons (provide medical documents) or any other reason acceptable to Senate. 15. Moi University is a higher learning institution established in 1984. In its first year of existence, there was only one department – the Department of Forestry, which had been transferred from the University of Nairobi. The enrollment that year was just 83 students. Moi University is a public university located in Kesses 35KM from Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu county.

Regular students are admitted to Moi University according to the minimum entry set by KUCCPS that year. Private students joining the arts programmes are supposed to have a minimum of a C+. Those joining science programmes should have a C (plain) plus the required subject attainment.

Sat for your KCSE examination and attained the minimum University Entry Grade and have been selected to join the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA)? Well. Congratulations for this your major achievement. Students joining the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after doing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.
