Maseno University Courses, Admissions, Requirements, Students Portal Log in, Website, Contacts and Application

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. These learning modules include: Full time, School Based, Distance Learning, Evening & Weekend classes and E-Learning.

KICD and Startimes Kenya in partnership to provide education content to learners

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, KICD, has entered into a partnership with pay TV company, Startimes, to broadcast online lessons to learners. The partnership will see StarTimes Kenya provide access to KICD approved curriculum on their digital television platform. The same materials will also be available on the company’s mobile application, StarTimes ON. The content will at the same time relayed on various TV channels available on Startimes.

Dr. Sara Ruto, the Chairperson KICD Council, said the new move will see learners access learning materials conveniently and that this is expected to broaden the coverage area; and this would see more households covered.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has pointed out a new feature of digital learning, we need to embrace it for the sake of our children and together we will be able to grow. One of the core competencies in the Competency-Based Curriculum is learning to learn, this is an opportune moment to put it to practice with such partners key in enriching the future of learning,” said Dr Sara Ruto while making the partnership public.

Dr. Sara Ruto; the chairperson to Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Council.

Dr Joel Mabonga, the KICD Acting Chief Executive Officer, was all but praises over the new partnership noting that this would provide the much needed boost in achieving their goals. The CEO welcomed the move noting the partnership will grow the number of platforms available to engage students who are learning at home with the content accessible on the mobile application being a strategic option given the high mobile penetration in the county.

“We need to go out of our ways to make sure that learning continues even under the current Covid-19 situation as we establish strategic partnerships that will help us achieve our mandate as an institute tasked with a national responsibility of developing curricula and curriculum support materials informed by research for all levels of education below the university,” said Dr Mabonga.

“We have partnered with KICD to allow us carry approved education content on our platforms. Currently, we have ensured that EDU Channel is available through our set top boxes as a free to air channel and uploaded approved primary and secondary school curriculum on our StarTimes ON mobile application platform key in ensuring the majority of students have access to the education materials,” said StarTimes Chief Executive Officer Mr. Andy Wang.

The ministry of education together with other partners is relaying TV, radio and online lessons to millions of learners at home in a bid to try and recover lost time; occasioned by the current closure of all learning institutions. Learners continue to follow the interactive online lessons at home tuning to KBC English Service and Radio Taifa for radio programmes and EDU TV channel and the Kenya Education Cloud for interactive lessons.

Nakuru Boys’ High School; KCSE Performance, Location, History, Fees, Contacts, Portal Login, Postal Address, KNEC Code, Photos and Admissions

NAKURU BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL LOCATION AND HISTORY

Nakuru High School is one of Kenya’s National Schools located in Nakuru Town, along Nakuru-Bahati Road,500M off Nakuru -Nairobi Highway. It borders Nakuru State House to the East. The school was founded in 1927 as Francis Scott High School but later renamed to Nakuru High School after Kenya attained independence in 1963.
The first stone was laid by the then colonial governor Edward William Macleay Grigg. It has roughly 200 acres of land at the foothills of Menengai Crater. Initially the co-educational institution was reserved for children of the whites who lived in the outlying farming areas and British administrators. All teachers, masters (as they were called at the time) were also white. First formed as a boarding school, it still allowed day bergs on condition that they lived around the school.
By the late 1950s, the school had grown to have a swimming pool, numerous rugby pitches, basketball courts, football pitches, hockey and cricket fields. The school also had well equipped learning resources. It had fully furbished classrooms, and science laboratories. Unique was the weather station where geography students took practical lessons. To keep up with its fast pace of growth, a large contingent of residential subordinate staff was employed.
After Kenya’s independence in 1963, gradual changes followed including being renamed and the first admissions of children of African origin. The first black students who pioneered entry to the school suffered harsh racial discrimination from students of Asian descent. In 1964 the school was opened to girls, making it the only national co-educational school in the whole country.
