SCHOOL’S KCSE PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams. In the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school featured in the list of top 200 schools nationally. This is after recording a mean score of 7.5 (B- minus).

Nyabururu Girls High school recorded impressive results in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination. The school which had a total candidature of 501 students achieved a mean of 7.514 up from the 5.784 mean score of 2018. This represented a deviation of +1.730.

The school had 346 students who scored the university direct entry grade of C+ (plus) and above. This represented a 69% pass rate.

One candidate scored a straight A. 24 candidates had A-(minus), while 54 scored B+(plus).

In the 2017 KCSE results, where only 142 students scored straight As nationally, 250 candidates from this school had qualified to join universities and few would join middle level colleges. 266 candidates sat for the examination and one scored A plain, 30 A -, 44 B+, 61 B, 66 B-, 49 C+ and 7 got C. The school attained a mean score of 8.7 up from 8.3 in 2016. The school got a mean score of 6.2 in 2018, an improvement from 5.2 in 2017.

Chuluni Girls High School was established in 1979 as a harambee school with an aim of promoting girl child education under the sponsorship of African Inland Church and over the years it has grown to a three streamed boarding school under county category with an enrollment of 600 students. 90% of our students are drawn from Kitui County while 10% come from other counties. It is located along Kitui-Kibwezi road 5 km from Kitui town.

The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

AIC MOROP GIRLS’ SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Morop Farm community donated the land to AIC Church which leased the land to a Private developer who established a private school that used the old farm structures as classes and dormitories. Later the Private developer was unable to run the school. Hence the government took over the management as a public school which was named Kampi ya Moto Secondary School in 1989.

The church subsequently approached the Former President Daniel Arap Moi who helped to build an administration block and four classes in 1991. The boys were then gradually phase out beginning in 1991 and by 1995 all the boys had been phased out. The school’s name was then changed to AIC Morop Girls’ Secondary School in 1995.

Nyangwa Boys’ High school was established in 1967 as a single streamed school. It remained single streamed till 1978. The school acquired Double Stream status from 1979 to 1983. The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

  Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. MAHOO GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Mahoo Girls Secondary School started on June 2009 with a population less than 16 girls and later around 50 students. The compound was a bare ground with no trees, no fence and with four classes Eastern block current deans office as the principal’s office, Chairs and desks donated by KWS, CDF and KPA. The Laboratory block and Western blocks were at foundation level, dormitory under construction and the school purely day school.

Mama Mary the only cook, cooked lunch on the open enduring rains and hot sun. Towards the end of the year TSC posted a principal Mrs. Grace Lesilale. With a strong prefect body under the leadership of Emily Wanjiku the head girl up to 2012, discipline and high moral standards enhanced. The  code of conduct still a guiding principle to the girls till today.

Teachers :

In the year 2010 four more teachers from TSC and the completion of dormitory in 2012 and became a full boarding by third term. With no electricity, hurricanes and gas lumps came in handy. The students walked to Timbila boys to do their practical’s which also assisted the school with most text books as we had none.

Completion of Mahoo girls secondary school buildings together with the western block, administration block and the teacher’s quarters  by the year 2012. Students now do practical’s from the school’s laboratories initially designed to be classrooms, school fence and gate constructed. In 2017 a new principal deployed. Development including modern kitchen, a hall, additional toilets, teacher’s quarters, CCTV camera, WIFI- connectivity, white boards in classes, computers by courtesy of Ministry of Education achieved by the school in the recent years.

Being a public school, form one admissions are done by the Ministry of Education. Vacancies are available on competitive basis.

Mahoo girls admission is done transparently and students admitted  irrespective of their tribal or religious backgrounds from all parts of the country as per ministry of Education guidelines. This is strictly on merit base. Students admission is at the beginning of every academic year. Applicants are required to bring with them official results-slips; and in case of a transfer; a transfer letter from the previous school must be produced.

The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams.
