Nakuru Boys’ High School; KCSE Performance, Location, History, Fees, Contacts, Portal Login, Postal Address, KNEC Code, Photos and Admissions

NAKURU BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL LOCATION AND HISTORY

Nakuru High School is one of Kenya’s National Schools located in Nakuru Town, along Nakuru-Bahati Road,500M off Nakuru -Nairobi Highway. It borders Nakuru State House to the East. The school was founded in 1927 as Francis Scott High School but later renamed to Nakuru High School after Kenya attained independence in 1963.
The first stone was laid by the then colonial governor Edward William Macleay Grigg. It has roughly 200 acres of land at the foothills of Menengai Crater. Initially the co-educational institution was reserved for children of the whites who lived in the outlying farming areas and British administrators. All teachers, masters (as they were called at the time) were also white. First formed as a boarding school, it still allowed day bergs on condition that they lived around the school.
By the late 1950s, the school had grown to have a swimming pool, numerous rugby pitches, basketball courts, football pitches, hockey and cricket fields. The school also had well equipped learning resources. It had fully furbished classrooms, and science laboratories. Unique was the weather station where geography students took practical lessons. To keep up with its fast pace of growth, a large contingent of residential subordinate staff was employed.
After Kenya’s independence in 1963, gradual changes followed including being renamed and the first admissions of children of African origin. The first black students who pioneered entry to the school suffered harsh racial discrimination from students of Asian descent. In 1964 the school was opened to girls, making it the only national co-educational school in the whole country.

20 Boarding schools to be identified, equipped per county for Corona patients as Positive cases soar

The Kenyan Government has directed the ministry of education to work with all county governments to identify at least 20 boarding schools per county to be prepared for use as health facilities as part of Covid-19 preparedness. The facilities are to be well equipped, complete with all necessary facilities to handle COVID19 patients. This has been revealed by the Deputy President, Dr. William Ruto.

“The health ministry will work with governors to ensure it done as quickly as Possible,” says the DP.

“This pandemic poses an existential threat therefore every effort counts. This is no time for blame game. Let’s pull TOGETHER,” added the DP.

This comes even as the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 8 new cases of coronavirus disease on Monday. Then new development now brings the total number of those who have tested positive of COVID-19 in the country to 50.

“In the last twenty-four hours, we have tested 172 samples. Out of this number a total of Eighty Four (84) samples from quarantined guests have been analyzed,” reported the CS.

The CS warned Kenyans about fake news being circulated on a possibility of existence of a vaccine to COVID19. “There is a lot of information circulating about Coronavirus, it’s important to know what’s true and what’s not. We appeal to all Kenyans to embrace this fight against coronavirus as their own and avoid misinformation. Don’t believe the myth that a vaccine for COVID-19 is available,” warned the CS.

COVID-19 vaccine fact-sheet.

CS Kagwe has at the same time directed motor Cycle operators, commonly known as BodaBoda) to only carry one passenger so as to curtail spread of the virus. “Most of the new infections are coming from the community and all boda boda operators are advised only carry one passenger henceforth,” he ordered.

In other measures, Employers have now been directed to release all workers by 4pm without slashing their salaries. This is in order for the workers to operate within the set curfew times. The Council of governors are also to have joint communique with interior ministry on other raft of measures.

Nairobi continues to lead with cases of Coronavirus patients which now stand at 34. While, Kilifi and Mombasa have recorded 6 and 3 cases; respectively. Kwale and Kitui have one case each.

Of the 50 confirmed cases, 26 are Males while 24 are Female.

KAHUHIA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Kahuhia Girls is one of Kenya’s oldest schools. It was founded by the Church Missionary Society in 1902. For a long time, it was ran as a college before it was changed into a girls’ secondary school in 1959.

Kahuhia Girls’ High School opened in 1957 with 30 students and a couple of teachers seconded from the Intermediate School (then popularly known as (Mambeere by the entire Kikuyu community. The school started using the learning and administrative facilities of the mabeere including the boarding space. The school was an initiative by the local community and missionaries.

The school performance was encouraging from the start and continued to send a substantial number of its students to “A” level schools, colleges and the university. The school has expanded over the years from a single stream school to a four stream school lately. The ‘A’ level classes performed well in EZZCE and later KACE until they were phased out in 1989 following the introduction of the 8-4-4 system of education.

Over the last fifty (50) years it has made a significant contribution to educational development in the immediate community, the Greater Central Kenya Community and the country at large. A large number of its alumni have played and continue to play vital roles in various sectors of the economy
