How to download 2020/2021 Admission letter to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology – MMUST; 2020 KUCCPS Admission list pdf

Did your KCSE examination and attained the minimum University Entry Grade and have been selected to join University? Well. Congratulations on this your major achievement. Students joining Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology – MMUST, are selected by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KCCPS. The students are selected after doing their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination and getting the minimum University entry requirement. The KCSE students must first apply to KUCCPS to be selected to preferred programmes. The students can apply at school level or apply individually during the first and second revision windows.

Once the applications are closed, KUCCPS then places the KCSE students in preferred courses depending on the student’s score, number of available vacancies against applicants among other selection criteria. In not satisfied with the University that you have been selected to join then you can apply for Inter-Institution Transfer.

The placement body then announces the selection results and students can access the admission lists and download their admission letters.

List of TSC shortlisted teachers for posts of Trainers, Facilitators and Education Technologists

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has released a list of teachers selected to implement the school-based teacher support system (SBTSS); under the the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP). The Government of Kenya received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project and intends to apply part of the Proceeds under the contract to recruitment of facilitators, subject experts and education technologists.

The list features about 570 teachers in 30 counties.  The selected facilitators will train targeted teachers of Science, Mathematics and English in grades 7 and 8 and Form 1 to 4. The Education specialists will support peer learning using ICT while, the subject experts will establish panels that will be responsible for reviewing and developing course content.

TSC is implementing part of the component 1 of the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP) on ‘improving the quality of teaching in targeted areas”. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to improve student learning in secondary education and transition from primary to secondary in targeted areas. The recruited officers will thus enable the Commission carry out this task. The teachers were selected from a pool of teachers who submitted their applications in April, 2019.

Teacher Professional Development, TPD, training: All you need to know

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, is set to roll out in service training programmes for all practicing teachers. The Commission has already contracted institutions that will be offering the refresher training programme christened Teacher Professional Development (TPD) modules. The teachers will be expected to meet the training costs for the modules that will be offered during school holidays. Of importance to note is the fact that the training will be mandatory for all practicing teachers. A teacher who will fail to undertake the short courses would be deemed to have violated the TSC code of regulation and may face disciplinary action from the employer.

Kenyatta University, Mount Kenya University, Riara University and Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) have been identified to offer the Teacher Professional Development modules. A teacher will be at liberty to choose an institution of his/ her choice where to take the TPD modules. According to TSC, the starting date will be announced once all logistics are addressed. Teacher Professional Development will continuously update teacher knowledge, skills, attitude and values encourage teachers’ learning communities.

The good news for teachers is that most of the TPD modules will be available online. “Many components of the TSC Teacher Professional Development programme will be available to teachers online and will be accessed through mobile phones,” says the Commission.

DETAILS ON THE TPD MODULES

All teachers will now be required to undergo professional development training six times in their career with each module taking a period of five (5) years. This means training will be done after every five years for a maximum of thirty years. The number of modules to be undertaken will, though, depend on the number of years that a teacher still has in service. Consequently, the type of module to be taken will largely depend on the number of years that a teacher still has in service; before attaining retirement age.

A teacher beginning the training will be required to complete seven sections of module one in order to be re-certified.

According to a policy statement paper prepared by TSC in 2018, Teachers will be trained for about five (5) days during school holidays. Upon commencement of the programme, a teacher will be required to acquire a certificate, which is renewable every five years while subsequent applicants for certificate of registration will be issued with both certificates.

After completing all Teacher Professional Development modules, teachers will be eligible for re-certification and promotion; as the TPD modules have been anchored in the Career Progression Guidelines, CPG. The training will also enhance the teacher’s knowledge and skills in order to address gaps in the Teacher Performance and Appraisal Development, TPAD. They will also keep teachers informed, enable them improve their pedagogical skills and acquire new, relevant, knowledge in their teaching areas.

On the flip side, teachers who would fail after the TPD assessment will have their teaching certificates withdrawn.

ST JOSEPH GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

St. Joseph’s Girls was established in 1993 when the girls were curved off from the previously mixed school, known as St. Joseph’s High School. The main aim of the separation was to improve the academic performance of the girls, as well as their enrolment. The girls’ school was then allocated 45 acres on which it stands today.

The first headteacher was Mrs. Florence Oginda (1993—1999). The current Principal, Ms. Mary Ooko took the mantle in 2008 from M/s Eunice Njenga who served between 1999 and 2008.

At inception, the school faced several challenges including; under-enrollment, low academic standards, inadequate instructional material and inadequate physical facilities such as dormitories, laboratories, classrooms, library amongst many others. However, with the passage of time, the school has witnessed increased enrolment from two streams and now embarking into the fourth stream.

KICD’s Julius Jwan among new sworn in Principal secretaries and Cabinet Secretaries

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday presided over the swearing in ceremony of two new Cabinet Secretaries and six Principal Secretaries, ushering them into Government.

The Cabinet Secretaries sworn in at a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi were Betty Chemutai Maina (Industrialisation, Trade and Enterprise Development) and Mutahi Kagwe (Health).

The new Principal Secretaries included Amb Johnson Mwangi Weru (Trade and Enterprise Development), Dr Julius Puma Jwan (Vocational and Technical Training), Mary Wanjira Kimonye (Public Service), Amb Simon Wanyonyi NabukwesI (University Education and Research), Solomon Kitungu (Transport) and Enosh Onyango Momanyi (Physical Planning).

President Kenyatta said the new officials are aware of the challenges corruption and lack of integrity have posed to the country, and reminded them that the two vices shall not be tolerated.

“The evil of corruption must come to an end. I expect you to support me in ending it,” the President said as he informed the CSs and PSs that he expects nothing short of total commitment to integrity.

The President assured the officials that he remains ready to work with them and support them in delivering services to Kenyans.

He said those taking the oath of office were experienced public servants who should hit the road running.

On the challenges being posed by the novel Coronavirus, President Kenyatta directed CS Kagwe to immediately take up the role of directing efforts to ensure Kenyans remain safe.

The President said he had earlier signed an Executive Order which the CS is expected to implement.

The Head of State urged CS Kagwe to eliminate all bottlenecks towards the realization of the universal health coverage pillar of the Big 4 Agenda by working closely with all stakeholders.

On trade and industry, the President directed CS Maina to start delivering results immediately, asking her to embark on forming the team to negotiate with the United States on a new trade deal.

He challenged the new trade CS to work hard and ensure that Kenya reaps maximum benefits from the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.

The ceremony was conducted by the Head of Public Service Dr Joseph Kinyua.
