Knec contracted professionals receive their payments

The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has started paying Supervisors and Invigilators their dues. This process will see all the Knec contracted professionals receive their payments. This payment comes a few weeks after the official release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The Council attributes the lateness in payment of the Supervision dues to the hectic process of reconciling the contracted professional’s data. The Council has taken some time to retrieve the details from the attendance registers that were marked during the examinations administration process.

According to Payment details released by the Council, Primary school head who will act as Centre Managers for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, exams will pocket a daily subsistence allowance of Sh500; for a total of 4 days (including rehearsal day). The exams were done between Monday March 22, 2021 to Wednesday March 24, 2021.

On their part, Secondary schools Principals are expected to also earn a daily allowance of Sh500 for 18 days. The highest paid Supervisor will walk away with a sum total of Sh12,510 while the highest paid invigilator will pocket Sh9860. The KCSE exams started on Friday March 26, 2021 with the last examination day being Wednesday April 21, 2021.

The Council again failed to factor payment for Deputy Head Teachers and Deputy Principals despite the fact that they were present during the examination period as assistant Centre Managers. Also walking home empty handed are teachers handling science subjects who prepared and administered practicals during the KCSE examinations.

The KCPE exams were done between October 29 and 31. Writing of theory and practical exams for KCSE exams were executed between Monday 4th November and Wednesday 27th November. The government mobilised 180,000 teachers as well as police helicopters for this year’s national examinations.

A total of 286,000 professionals were contracted by the Council to administer the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Did you know that you can easily get Certification of Examination Results if you have lost your Knec certificates or get Confirmation of Examination Results and even equate your Foreign Qualifications online? Well. Thanks to the Knec Query Management Information System (QMIS) you can now get these services without necessarily making physical visits to the the Knec offices.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has automated the process of submitting examination related queries by clients. The Query Management Information System (QMIS) is accessible online and therefore, clients do not need to visit KNEC offices physically to raise queries unless they are collecting documents generated after their queries have been resolved.

The Query Management Information System (QMIS) is an electronic system for online
submission and processing of queries related to examination results and other services such as (confirmation, equation and certifications) by KNEC stakeholders and General public.

The use of QMIS started on 1st July 2018 and clients have embraced the platform, so far a good number have registered to use the system and many have launched queries.

Examples of queries handled by the system are:

2	Direct Recoveries (only for schools)	slips, certificates, result printout
3	Results (Marks) queries	Concerns on absenteeism, missing marks and payment queries.

Services that are available through the Knec QMIS

Services are also handled through the system. These include:

certification letter;
confirmation statements and
equations of foreign qualifications.

To access the system to launch and track queries\ services, clients should have a computer\mobile phone with internet access.

The web address https://qmis.knec.ac.ke is used for accessing the QMIS system.
All requirements for particular queries are displayed by the system for a client to scan and attach.
Upon successful processing, clients are required to avail original copies of the requirements before collecting their documents.
KNEC notifies clients to collect their documents through their emails and short Messaging Service (SMS).
All payments are done through Mpesa, of which the system prompts the client through SMS on the amount and how to pay. One pays only when prompted to pay.

Dr. David Njeng’ere is the new Boss

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the appointment of Dr. David Njeng’ere as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a five-year term.

Dr. Njegere takes over from Mercy Karogo, who has been on an Acting CEO for the past five years.

KNEC Chairman, John Onsati, made the announcement through a statement sent to newsrooms, today, with the new CEO’s tenure beginning, July 1, 2021.

Onsati said that Dr. Njeng’ere successfully underwent through the rigorous recruitment process.

“Upon completing all the necessary recruitment procedures and following the due process, Dr. David Njeng’ere Kabita, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of KNEC, effective July 1, 2021 for a term of five years,” the press statement read in part.

Dr. Njeng’ere holds a Doctorate in Education from Moi University and is a seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience who specialises in curriculum development and evaluation.

He is currently the Education Adviser for Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha, a job he has held for the past three years.

He has previously worked at the Kenya Institute for Curriculum Reforms and KNEC, where he was instrumental in the conceptualisation and design of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency Based Assessment.

“Dr. Njeng’ere has wide experience as an educationist and has been involved in many initiatives in education reforms at national, regional and global levels,” the statement elaborated.

Dr.Njeng’ere will be in charge of promoting the Council’s transformative achievements in examinations management, particularly the reforms that halted national examination leakage and restored national examination credibility and integrity in Kenya.

Knec sets new minimum number of registered candidates per centre for KCSE, KCPE exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has revised the minimum number of candidates required per centre for the National Examinations. In the new guidelines, the minimum number of KCSE and KCPE candidates will now be thirty, 30.

The new changes will affect the hosting of schools for KCPE and KCSE examinations.

“During the conduct of the 2021 KCPE and KCSE Examinations, all schools with less than thirty (30) candidates will have to be hosted. This is a departure from the previous number of forty (40) candidates that had been communicated earlier.” Says Knec via the latest circular.

Earlier, KNEC had sent out a circular referenced KNEC/GEN/EA/KCPE/KCSE/HOSTING/2021/02 to All Head Teachers of Primary Schools and Principals of Secondary Schools presenting candidates for 2021 KCPE and KCSE from both private and public schools.

The Council had requested that centres with less than forty ( 40) candidates be hosted by an Examination Centre with more than forty ( 40) candidates during the 2021 KCPE and KCSE Examination.

New registration guidelines for KCPE, KCSE exams.

Following consultation with the Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) under the guidance of the Ministry of Education (MoE), the following issues were agreed upon:

There shall be no registration of new examination centres with less than thirty (30) candidates for both public and private schools;
All primary and secondary schools from both public and private with less than thirty (30) candidates will be hosted by centres of their choice during the 2021 KCPE and KCSE Examinations;
This policy will not apply to special need Special need schools will be expected to conduct examinations at their examination centres;
Schools with less than thirty (30) candidates and are more than 5 kilometres away from the nearest examination centre must seek special approval from the Council before August 15th, 2021 to conduct examination in their centres.
The host school and the hosted school(s) should be located within the same sub Both the host school and the hosted school(s) should be served from the same distribution centre (container);
During the conduct of examination, the host Head Teacher/Principal will be the one authorized to collect examination materials from the container, coordinate the conduct and return of the candidates answer scripts to the container during each examination day; and
All Sub County Directors of Education (SCDEs) are required to submit the list of host examination centres and hosted examination centres for March/April 2021 KCPE and KCSE examination by August 15th, 2021.

KCPE 2020 Best Schools- St. Peter’s Mumias Boys’ Primary School recorded good results in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2020 exams. The best candidates in the school were OLIVER SHEMA and MARK JOE who scored 427 marks out of 500.

The school had 256 candidates who sat the KCPE 2020 exams with 89 of them scoring 400 marks and above.

Knec Assessors, Examiners Advert 2021

The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has advertised for KCSE Assessors, Examiners vacancies. Interested teachers are supposed to apply online. See the requirements, application portal and guide below.

KCSE ASSESSORS FOR ORAL AND PRACTICAL PAPERS

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is a State Corporation established in 1980 under an Act of Parliament, namely The Kenya National Examinations Council Act Chapter 225A of (1980). The Act was repealed in 2012 and replaced with The Kenya National Examinations Council Act No. 29 of 2012.

The Council is mandated to conduct national assessments and examinations at both basic and tertiary levels and certify learners.

KNEC wishes to recruit secondary school teachers as assessors for KCSE oral and practical papers. The selected teachers will be trained on the job during assessment of the 2021 KCSE candidates.

Teachers who are already in the KNEC database of assessors need not to apply.

Applications are invited from all interested and qualified teachers as follows:

1.0 KCSE ORAL AND PRACTICAL EXAMINATION PAPERS

Secondary school teachers to be recruited for the following papers:

2.0 REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Qualifications for recruitment

2.1.1 Be a practicing teacher in the relevant subjects;

2.1.2 Diploma in Education (and above);

2.1.3 Must have a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years;

2.1.4 Must be registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC);

2.1.5 Must be recommended by his/her Head of institution;

2.1.6 Must NOT be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the employer;

2.1.7 Must be 50 years of age and below.

3.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants will be expected to access the online form using the link; https://cp.knec.ac.ke/assessors, fill in their respective personal details and print the same form.

They will further be required to fill in sections 2.0 and 4.0 manually, attach the testimonials listed in the application form and forward to KNEC so as to reach the Council on or before 30^thSeptember, 2021.

Only qualified Teachers/Tutors who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the assessment exercise.
