KMTC Nyeri Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
The history of KMTC Nyeri Campus dates back to 1947 when, as part of Nyeri County Referral Hospital, then Nyeri Provincial General Hospital, the Campus opened its doors to its first students as an Enrolled Nursing school.
In 1975, the Campus admitted the first Enrolled Community Health Nursing students while in 1995, the first Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing course commenced at the Campus.
Nine years later in 2004, the Campus began offering an upgrading course in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing.

Facilities
- A new tuition block housing the library, two laboratories and a skills laboratory is almost complete.
- A new state-of-the-art modern library offers a conducive environment for learning and research work for both students and staff members. Its E-learning section, will enable students and staff members access internet, digital learning materials and online books.
- A well-equipped ICT laboratory with a fast internet connectivity and Wi-Fi allows internet access for mobile devices to assist students and lecturers do their online research.
- The top-of-the-range ultrasound machine is a necessity for the learning of Medical Imaging Sciences, which is one of the courses offered at Nyeri Campus.

KMTC Voi Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
The first medical training college to be established in Taita -Taveta County, KMTC Voi Campus opened its doors in 2016. It is situated one kilometer from Voi town off Mombasa- Nairobi highway on a 5.9 acre land. The Campus is also two kilometers away from the famous Standard Gauge Railway Voi station, making it easily accessible.
The Campus is projected to expand in the coming years due to availability of space and support from the College and its partners.
Programmes and Courses currently offered:-
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
- Diploma in Community Health Nursing.
- Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology.
There are plans to introduce more new courses in future.
Facilities
The Campus also has the following:
- Modern state-of-the-art equipment in our skills lab enabling us offer quality training for nursing and clinical medicine students, who are the primary users of the lab.
- Modern and spacious classrooms which are well lit and ventilated.
- A library with a seating capacity of 200 students, well equipped with the required medical text books for various medical courses.
- Modern staff offices and kitchen.
- Adequate clean sanitary facilities and constant supply of water.
- The expansive availability of land provides the Campus with a great opportunity to expand horizontally and vertically.
- Campus bus.
- Security of students, staff and their property within and around the Campus vicinity is adequately provided.
- There are accommodation facilities for both male and female students. We also have dining facilities that provide quality meals for our students.

The Campus has a population of over 170 students, and with more expected to report after admission, this number is likely to go higher.

The Campus enjoys a cordial relationship with clinical experience sites within and outside the County, including Voi Sub-County Hospital, who have committed and experienced clinical instructors and mentors.

KMTC Webuye Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Webuye Campus was established in 2005 courtesy of the KMTC Board of Directors, the then area Member of Parliament for Webuye Hon. Musikari Kombo and the local community. The Campus is located in Webuye East.
It was started as an initiative of the community and supported by the CDF Webuye. The local CDF is credited for having funded the construction of all lecture halls and dining hall. Apart from Webuye Constituency, other development partners include the neighbouring Kimilili Constituency. The computer Lab was partially funded by Kimilili CDF and completed by Webuye East CDF. Bungoma County and Webuye Municipality have also given financial support through the LATF.
Webuye Campus opened its doors to students in October 2005 with a pioneer group of 82 diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery students. In March 2007, the Department of Nursing was introduced and 37 Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) students were admitted.
In 2010, upgrading course in Enrolled Community Health Nursing started. In March 2011, the Campus started offering a Diploma in Community Health Nursing and in 2013, the Department of Health Records and Information was started with 50 students undertaking a two year certificate course.

- Multipurpose hall
The Campus has a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 500 persons.
- Library
The library is equipped with current books for use by the students. It is linked to the computer lab to enable students access materials that are in digital formats.
- Skills lab
The Campus also has a well-equipped skills lab to introduce students to practical lessons before going out for clinical experiences.
- Accommodation
The Campus has accommodation facility for both male and female students.
Student’s Population
Currently with more than 160 students, the population has continued to grow, as demand for learning opportunities increased.
Clinical experience sites
The students mainly undertake clinical placements at Webuye Sub-County Hospital which is situated about 750 metres away and at Bungoma Sub-county Hospital.
There are some special clinical placements which are undertaken in the following health facilities approved by the professional regulatory bodies:

- Cheptais
- Naitiri
- Bokoli
- Kabuchai
- Makunga
- Bumula
For rural community health experience the students are also attached at County Teaching and Referral Hospitals such as Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisumu, Siaya and Kisii for psychiatry experience.
Clubs, societies and sports
Sports are part and parcel of our extra curricula activities that involve students at various levels in line with the sports policy. The Campus has actively participated in all the previous College games, posting exemplary performance.
We boast of a strong volley ball, football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, net ball and volley ball teams. In athletics, we have had several trophies in races such as 10,000 meters, a 100 meters among others.

KMTC Mandera Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
Sitting on a 78-acre piece of land with a perimeter wall, Kenya medical College (KMTC) Mandera Campus was constructed in 2018. Its first intake in Community Health and Development was in April 2019. The course takes six months after which the students proceed to a two- year certificate course. The Campus is located in Mandera town opposite Moi Stadium and Khadija Girls Secondary School, about 2km from Mandera County Referral Hospital.

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Lake Victoria Campus was established in July 2013 as part of KMTC’s expansion programme to provide more training opportunities for qualified Kenyans seeking to train as competent health professionals.
It is located in Kisumu County along Angawa Avenue adjacent to Kisumu County Hospital and occupies land measuring approximately 3.5 hectares.

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Mwingi Campus was started in September 2015 as a collaboration between the KMTC Board of Directors, the County Government of Kitui, Mwingi Level 4 Hospital and other stakeholders. It was officially opened by H.E. the President of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta on June 11, 2016.
The Campus is situated one kilometer off Mwingi – Garissa road, along Mwingi – Nzeluni road next to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital, beside a rock that creates a cool and conducive environment for learning and a fascinating view for natives and visitors.

KMTC Nyahururu Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nyahururu Campus is situated within Laikipia County Referral Hospital, in Nyahururu town. It was established in May 2016 as an initiative of KMTC Board of Directors, Laikipia County Government and the Laikipia County Referral Hospital.
Established with an objective of addressing the critical staffing shortage in the health facilities in the County, it started training Diploma in Health Education and Promotion in May 2016 with a class of 18 students.
In the 2017/2018 academic year, it started expanding its infrastructure and in 2019, it opened its doors to two other programs: Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.

- Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery
- Diploma in Health Education & Promotion

KMTC Taveta Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
KMTC Taveta Campus is situated in a serene environment conducive for learning in Taveta Constituency, Taita Taveta County at the Kenya-Tanzania border.
Taveta Campus is set to admit pioneer students in September 2019 in the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health. The pioneer students will undertake a six-month short course in Community Health and Development and a Certificate course for Community Health Assistants (CHA).
This will mark the achievement of a major milestone for a Campus established to expand training opportunities for health care professionals. The Campus is a flagship project of National Government – Constituency Development Fund, Taveta, which has immensely supported the development of its infrastructure.
The Campus will play a major role in the training of health workers, who will be key to the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The Campus has the following facilities:

KMTC Makueni Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
KMTC Makueni Campus started in March 2014 through the support of the KMTC Board of Directors and the Makueni County Government. It is located in Wote town in Makueni County, 72 km from Machakos town and 72 km from Makindu town on the Nairobi – Mombasa high way.
The Campus is adjacent to Makueni County Teaching and Referral Hospital which serves as the practical site for the students. The Campus occupies the former District Commissioner’s offices and the multipurpose farmers’ centre, which were renovated to accommodate students.

KMTC Kapenguria Campus (Physical location, Courses, Requirements, How to apply and Contacts)
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kapenguria Campus is situated near West Pokot County Headquarters adjacent to Kapenguria County Referral Hospital on a 12 acre-piece of land donated by the Hospital through the County Government.
KMTC Kapenguria Campus was started in early 1980’s and buildings put in place with the aim of empowering the county, then district, with health care personnel.
After devolution, the County Government of west Pokot built and equipped a new and modern facility for classes, administrative offices, skills slab, and library. Some of the pre-existing hospital buildings were also converted for use by the Campus.
KMTC Kapenguria Campus admitted the first Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurses students in September 2014. The Campus was officially opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta on 16th April, 2015. It was the first KMTC campus in Kenya to be built and equipped by a County Government.

Fully equipped skills lab by County Government and donation from Liverpool.
- Hostels/Accomodation
The Campus has well-equipped hostels with adequate water supply.

West Pokot County has 83 functional health facilities, one county referral hospital, three Sub-County Hospitals and Health Centers in each sub county.

Background information
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Chuka Campus was started in September 2015 through collaboration between KMTC Board of Directors, the local community, Chuka University and the County Government of Tharaka Nithi. It is currently situated within Chuka University.
Programmes and Courses offered: –
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
- Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN).
- Certificate in Orthopaedic Technology
The following courses are set to start:
- Upgrading of Enrolled Community Nursing to KRCHN.
- Upgrading of certificate to Diploma in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine.
- Short courses in HIV Testing Services, Mentorship, Monitoring and Evaluation.

The Campus has the following facilities to enable effective learning by our students:

Currently, there are 503 students with the population expected to increase in the next intake.
Clinical Experience Sites
Chuka County Referral Hospital provides the main clinical experience site for our students. Others hospitals include: Embu County Referral Hospital, Kiirua and Kyeni Mission Hospitals.
