Strathmore School is a a prestigious private, independent, boys’ day school located in Nairobi; Westlands Constituency, Kenya that follows the 8-4-4 curriculum. The school was started as a Sixth Form college in March 1961. In 1977 the first Form One students were admitted, and in 1987 the first Standard One pupils.

Today, there are around 630 students in the school with a significant number of them receiving financial aid. Strathmore began as a Sixth Form College offering a full range of Arts and Science subjects. The first Form Five students enrolled in March, 1961, and sat the Higher School Certificate Examination in November 1962.

Accountancy studies were added to the College Curriculum in January, 1966, when the first students registered to prepare for the Association of Certified Accountants examinations. The first Form One students enrolled in January, 1977; during the years 1977-1980 the Secondary School was expanded to include Forms One to Four.

The College is managed by Study Centres of Kenya. The land and buildings of the College are held in Trust by Strathmore Registered Trustees which is incorporated as a charitable Trust under the Land (Perpetual Succession) Ordinance.

With the starting of the Primary School, the Trustees have organized Strathmore College into two levels: ‘Strathmore College School of Accountancy’ for post-secondary studies and ‘Strathmore School’ for primary and secondary Studies.

Mission

The School’s chief purpose is to develop the minds and consciences of its students so that they can become self-disciplined and resourceful, and therefore better able to serve society in a useful way. Above all, the School emphasizes academic excellence and moral integrity. The School aims at creating an environment that is conducive to learning; both experienced teachers and well-motivated students strive to create this environment.

Through daily close contact with the students in the classroom, in extra-curricular activities and on the sports fields, the School Staff strive to develop in the students such qualities, such as honesty, responsibility, good use of freedom, tolerance, and hard work. The School aims at providing an education based on Christian principles and accepts worthwhile students regardless of creed.

Srathmore Court of Arms

The lion is the symbol of strength, power, courage of determined fight for excellence and justice. It also represents Kenya, our country, which has all the qualities mentioned above.

The Rose in full blossom represents, love, the source of all good desires and actions, even if at times it requires loving sacrifice, represented by the thorns the rose shows in its stem. The rose has some supernatural meaning. Love, in capital letters, is love of God. And also it has some historical meaning associated with the life of Blessed Josemaria who inspired and encouraged those who started Strathmore: He received a sign by means of a wooden gilded carved rose in a very trying moment of his life.

The Three hearts represent the three races which, in 1961 when the School started, were segregated in the colonial system of education. The heart represents the person, since it is taken as the source of all our actions, and the source of love. Being the three hearts of the same colour it shows the radical equality of all people. At the beginning it clearly meant the unity sought of the three major races. These days it means the co-operation of parents, teachers and students towards the same aim.

The motto “Ut ommnes unum sint” is in Latin. It is a quotation from a passage of the Gospel, and translated means “That all may be one”. It expresses the desire of working together towards the same aim, in spite of individual legitimate opinions, preferences and tastes.

The colours in heraldry (the science of making coats of arms) have associated meanings as follows:

Blue (Azure) Sky blue means high ideals, high aims;
Red (Gules) Blood red means sacrifice, love, fortitude;
Yellow (Gold ) Gold means eternity, perfection.

STRATHMORE SCHOOL KCSE RESULTS ANALYSIS

The school has posted impressive performance at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams over time.

2017 KCSE RESULTS ANALYSIS

Strathmore School presented 88 candidates. The school posted a good performance, with an average of 9.190. 3 students scored straight A, 15 scored A-, 23 scored B+, 24 scored B, 9 scored B-, 6 scored C+, 6 scored C, and 2 scored C-. This, therefore, gives a transition rate of over 90% to university.

The subjects that scored the best means were Computer Studies with a mean of 12, Mathematics with a mean of 10.557 and French with a mean of 10.133. Improvement was noted in Computers Studies, Chemistry and English.

KCPE 2021 results analysis for best schools- St Peter’s Mumias Boys’ Boarding School

KCPE 2020 Best Schools- St. Peter’s Mumias Boys’ Primary School recorded good results in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2020 exams. The best candidates in the school were OLIVER SHEMA and MARK JOE who scored 427 marks out of 500.

The school had 256 candidates who sat the KCPE 2020 exams with 89 of them scoring 400 marks and above.

Besides Kisii High School no other school in Kisii County beat the mean of 9.4 attained by the school in the just released KCSE result. The school is ranked at position 2 in the county, 23 nationally in the county schools category and 65 overall in the national ranking.

The school beat hitherto known academic giants in Gusii land notably, Nyabururu girls, Kereri girls and Cardinal Otunga Mosocho Boys. However, in non-academic ranking nationally the school stands tall at position 10.

The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

About 5,397 schools are yet to upload their 2020 from one selection lists onto the National Education Management Information System, Nemis. This is according to the latest data from the Education Ministry. This mostly affects the Sub County and Private schools whose selection was done manually. The list detailing the school’s name and location indicates that the schools are yet to upload their selection lists onto their Nemis accounts in readiness for the admission exercise in January 2020.

The Education Ministry has set reporting date for the 2020 form ones to secondary schools to be between January Monday 13th to Friday 17th. This will be about one week after the other students would have reported back to school for the new year.

KCSE 2019 results for Orero high school

Orero high School managed a mean score of 7.9 in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination. The school registered a total of 284 candidates.

220 candidates scored a mean grade of C+(plus) and above, hence, booking direct tickets to university; representing 74.46% of the candidates who sat for the examination. One student scored grade A (plain) while, Candidates who scored mean grade of A- (minus) were 19. Others scored B+ (35), B (47), B- (60) and C+ (58 candidates).

UZALENDO SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Uzalendo School is a public mixed and boarding secondary school modeled along Strarehe Boys Centre which was started in 2015 to help the bright and needy students to access quality education.

The idea to start Uzalendo School was conceived by Eldama Ravine Education Foundation (EREF) officials led by the area Member of Parliament Moses Lessonet in 2014.

During his first term in office as an MP, Hon Lessonet discovered that students who receive bursary from funds like Constituency Development Fund (CDF) end up dropping out of school since the bursary is not enough to cater for school fees.

As of 2015, the foundation, which offered scholarships to students drawn from needy backgrounds, had about 60 students in secondary school and the total amount of school fees was ballooning; numbers that could not be manageable in the future.

This problem inspired him and his committee at EREF to come up with a comprehensive plan to start Uzalendo School whose launch and groundbreaking ceremony was done at Eldama Ravine FTC grounds on July 19, 2015; an event that was presided over by National Assembly Speaker Joseph Muturi.

Through the area MP’s mobilization of funds, the Government of Kenya gave a Sh20 Million donation that was used to construct four classes, two dormitories – 124 capacity each and one science laboratory.

The school now has a population of 300 and an overall capacity of 496. Of the 300 student population, 211 are on full scholarship.

Uzalendo School will have its first candidate class of 59 students (35 of them being on the full EREF scholarship) sit for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination later this year.

MP Moses Lessonet, who is also the patron of the school, says he is confident that the candidates will perform well and the excellent results posted by the school will be an important milestone towards making the institution self sustaining.

The New TPAD 2 appraisal system for TSC teachers: Guide to the whole appraisal process

Have you created your new account on the new Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD 2) and you are wondering how to proceed with your appraisal process? Well, here is a guide to enable all teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, to do both self appraisals and appraise those under them.
After successfully creating your new TPAD-2 account, next you need to carry out a self appraisal. This is a simple process that can be achieved by following the steps below:
1. - log into your account by visiting this link; https://tpad2.tsc.go.ke/auth/login. Enter your TSC Number, ID Number and Password then click ‘Login’. (In an event that you can not recall your password, click the ‘Forgot password’ tab to reset it.
  - On successful login, you will be redirected to your dashboard. This shows a summary of your ‘to do’ (pending) and accomplished tasks.
2. The new TPAD 2 login window.
  - To start off your appraisal, click the menu button (at the top left corner; will be shown as three parallel lines if using a mobile phone). Then, select ‘Self appraisals’ followed by ‘self assessment’.
  - Now, click ‘Create new appraisal’. Select the Year, Term and ‘on duty’ under eligibility.
  - Your newly created appraisals will be listed under ‘My appraisals’.
  - Under the ‘action’ column, select ‘proceed to appraisal’ to complete your appraisal by filling in the required information/ fields.
  - Record Teaching Standards, Learners Progress and Lesson Attendance. Choose the menu items (standards; one at a time), click ‘Update standard’ and in the next window click the ‘choose standard’ tab. Under the ‘Select Standards by Institution’ choose either Primary & Secondary schools or SNE (Special Needs Education) Primary & Secondary schools.
  - Click ‘proceed to standard’. Edit the marks/ data for each of the listed standards by clicking the ‘new rating’ tab under the ‘action’ column.
  - Once all the areas have been correctly filled out, click the ‘view/ submit for Appraisal’ tab.
  - The whole process requires some bit of patience and precision.
  - You can not move to the next step/ area unless the current one is updated.

List of TSC teachers who failed to declare wealth, to miss salaries

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has released a list of 3,500 teachers and staff who failed to file their 2019 wealth declarations. Via a circular dated April 14, 2020, the Commission boss says the said teachers and staff have been expunged from the TSC payroll until they meet certain set conditions. All TSC employees, just like other workers in the formal sector, were required to declare their 2017/2019 Income, Assets, and Liabilities by 31 December, 2019 through the TSC Wealth Declaration online portal.

“Over 3,500 employees (secretariat staff and teachers) did not declare their Wealth within the stipulated deadline. Consequently, the Commission has stopped the employees’ salaries for Non-Compliance from March and April 2020 payrolls,” says the TSC Boss.

The Kenyan law requires all public officers to declare their wealth; periodically. This declaration is made online and there are hefty penalties for officers who fail to declare their income, assets and liabilities within the stipulated time. According to the Public Ethics Act of 2003, It is mandatory for all public officers to declare their income, assets and liabilities once in every two years.

All teachers in employment of TSC are required to declare their Income, Assets and Liabilities. These include teachers on: Any kind of leave, Interdiction, Suspension or Sick leave.

About 40,000 teachers had not submitted their returns, online, by December 30, 2019. This prompted the Commission to extend the deadline by one more week. Those affected were given the grace period to file their data between 8th – 14th January, 2020.

For the teachers and staff to be reinstated into the TSC payroll they will be required to write an letter through their immediate Supervisor/Head teacher/Principal to explain why they did not adhere to the instructions to declare their wealth as stipulated in law.

“To fast track reinstatement, the letters be scanned and emailed to TSC headquarters with a covering letter listing the forwarded cases, by the TSC County Director,” says the Commission.

School heads must also give evidence that the teacher is indeed in active service.

“The Headteacher/Principal/Supervisor to confirm in writing that the employee has been in active service and /or has been teaching all along. The letter should be validated and forwarded to TSC Headquarters by the TSC County Director/TSC Sub-County,” adds the Commission.

Those affected will be hoping that the Commission will not take further action. This is because any teacher in the TSC employment who fails to submit a declaration or gives false or misleading information is liable to a fine of Kshs 1,000,000 or be imprisoned for a term not exceeding one year or both upon conviction.

The Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, examiners portal can be accessed by KCSE and KCPE examiners by using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke/. The portal is used by teachers to apply for KNEC examiners training.

You can also log into the portal to download your Knec examiners marking invitation letter.

UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS

Once logged into your account, you will be expected to update your personal details. The following fields must be filled correctly:

How to Login and download your marking invitation letter

Invited examiners should follow the following steps to download their marking letters and instructions:

Log onto the portal by clicking on this link; https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2f
Then, enter your User Name and Password and click on ‘Login’. In case you have forgotten your password, click on ‘Rest Password’ and it will be sent via sms.
Once logged in, Select either ‘Accept contract’ or ‘Reject’.
If interested, click on ‘Accept Contract’ followed by ‘Download (Year i.e 2021) Marking Invitation Letter’.
In case you wish to update your details, then select update profile and edit your data and finally click on Save.
In the table below, click on ‘View’ to access your marking invitation letter.

Alternative Way on How to download your Knec marking invitation letter

To download the KNEC marking invitation letters, follow the prompts below:

Go to your browser (Google, Chrome, Opera) and type in this address: https://cp.knec.ac.ke or just click on the link.
In the new window, press on ‘CLICK HERE TO PROCEED.”
Enter your User Name (ID NO.) and Pass Word (TSC NO.) and select, ‘Log in’.
Once logged in, now select: ‘ACCEPT OFFER’. A prompt will be displayed on your screen/ window to show that the offer has bee recorded, thus: ‘Your offer acceptance has been saved’.
To download your marking invitation letter, click on: ‘DOWNLOAD YOUR LETTER’.
You can then print your letter or save it on your local device.

Note: You can only access your invitation letter once KNEC posts it in the portal.
