KNEC postpones marking and uploading of 2020 KCSE data for Group IV subjects’ projects

The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has postponed the uploading of the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) project marks for Group IV subjects. This is as a result of the current shutdown of all learning institutions to curb further spread of the current COVID-19 (CoronaVirus) Pandemic in the Country.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to inform you that further guidelines on the handling of Milestone 1 and 2 for Group IV projects will be issued when schools reopen,” reads a Memo by the Council’s Boss, Dr. Mercy Karogo, that is dated March 27, 2020, and dispatched to Sub-County Directors of Education and Secondary Schools principals.

Knec had earlier set the deadline for uploading the projects’ scores and pictorial evidence for Milestone one to be 31st of March, 2020 while uploading of data for Milestone two would have been done between 15th June to 15th July, 2020.

The 2020 KCSE Subjects with the project component are: Art & Design (442/3 2D Project,
Agriculture (443/3) and Woodwork (444/2). Others are Metalwork (445/2),Building Construction (446/2) and Computer Studies (451/3).

It is subject teachers who assess the candidates’ projects and upload the marks plus pictorial evidence to the Knec portal for verification and final conversions. By the time the Government ordered for closure of schools, the the marking had not been completed by most tutors.

The fate of this year’s National examinations remains in balance as the world puts up a spirited fight against the deadly CoronaVirus. According to the 2020 KCSE time table from the Council, the candidates would sit for their examinations from Monday November 2, 2020 to Wednesday November 25, 2020.

For Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, candidates their examinations would be done between October 26 to October 29, 2020. It is only a matter of wait and see to know whether these dates will be retained or altered; after schools reopen.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS is a state corporation known for placing qualified students in universities, polytechnics, and technical institutes in Kenya. 

In some cases Kuccps  may place a student in a university or college he/ she did not want to join for one reason or another. The good news is that such an dissatisfied student can apply for transfer to a university of choice.

KUCCPS inter-university transfer: all you should know

If you feel that KUCCPS has placed you in the wrong university, you can request an inter-university transfer. Here is how to go about it.

KUCCPS inter-university transfer requirements

If you have been wondering how to transfer from one university to another through KUCCPS, this guide will help you. The requirements you must meet to be considered for an inter-university transfer are explored below.

  • If you wish to change to a particular programme, you must meet the minimum requirements for the specific course.
  • You must also meet the set cut-off points of the course you wish to pursue.
  • You must give valid reasons to support your application for a transfer.

KUCCPS application for an inter-university transfer

Below are the steps you should follow to request a KUCCPS inter-university transfer. The procedure can be followed by new and continuing students.

  • Connect to the internet: Ensure you have a reliable ISP to avoid long page load periods. If you are using a hotspot connection from your phone, make sure you have around 50mbs of data.
  • Open your browser: To open your browser, launch your Start Menu, then scroll down until you see the application’s icon. Click on it.
  • Go to the KUCCPS inter-university transfer portal: Use the official address for KUCCPS inter-university transfers.
  • Login to the KUCCPS portal: Enter your KCSE index number to log into your account. Make sure it starts with your county code.
  • Select the year you sat KCSE from the drop-down menu: Type in your password, which should be your index number or birth certificate number. Log into your account.
  • Fill in the KUCCPS inter-university transfer form: Provide the required details, including the institution you wish to transfer to and the course you wish to pursue.
  • Submit the form: Proofread the details you have entered. Check for any errors or omissions before submitting the document.
  • Wait for approval: Once your request is approved, download your transfer letter and present it to the receiving university.

NB: It will cost you KES 1,000 to request an inter-university transfer. Many students are always in looking for a sample of a KUCCPS inter-university transfer letter. It is important to note that KUCCPS has digitised its systems, so you do not need to write a letter.

Instead, log into your account, fill out the online form, and submit it for approval. This means there is no need to learn how to write a transfer letter to KUCCPS.

Transfer to a different faculty in the same university

If you wish to transfer to a different faculty within the same university, you do not need to involve KUCCPS. You should report on the admission date indicated on your letter and register for the course you wish to drop.

Next, follow the university procedure for an inter-faculty transfer. You are free to transfer to any faculty, department, and course only if you meet the minimum requirements, as long as you follow due process. To do this, visit your university/college registrar’s office for more details.

How long does endorsement by the receiving institution take?

After you have submitted your duly filled inter-university transfer forms, the receiving university will endorse you. The speed at which you are endorsed will vary from one institution to the other. It can take few hours, days, or even weeks.

After endorsement, the releasing university will receive your application. It will clear you so that the application moves to the next stage. The final phase necessitates approval from the KUCCPS CEO.

The KUCCPS inter-university transfer system is open for a specific period following the announcement of placements. Once you log into your portal and find that you have been placed, follow up for the inter-transfer. You should confirm the deadline by checking the KUCCPS website frequently.

Are you intending to mark the 2020 KCSE exams that will be done between Friday March 26, 2021 and Wednesday April 21, 2021? Well. The 2020 KCSE examinations will be marked from 19/04/2021 to 07/05/2021 at various marking centres.

The Kenya National Examinations Council, knec, is inviting the existing and qualified newly trained Examiners for the 2020 marking exercise, online. The site shall be accessible by all Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, KCSE Examiners.

To be considered for the marking exercise you must apply online. The application process is simple and straight forward.

  • Those without cp2 accounts, click on reset password button to enter their mobile numbers in the format (2547********) and submit to get their username and password for logging into the system.
  • Upon successful login, complete their personal information and save. Using the dashboard provided, access, download, print and read the invitation letters and the Marking Instructions. Further instructions on acceptance and rejection of marking offer are given in the invitation letter.

How to download your marking invitation letter

To download the KNEC marking invitation letters, follow the prompts below:

1. Go to your browser (Google, Chrome, Opera) and type in this address: https://cp.knec.ac.ke or just click on the link.

2. In the new window, press on ‘CLICK HERE TO PROCEED.”

3. Enter your User Name (ID NO.) and Pass Word (TSC NO.) and select, ‘Log in’.

4. Once logged in, now select: ‘ACCEPT OFFER’. A prompt will be displayed on your screen/ window to show that the offer has bee recorded, thus: ‘Your offer acceptance has been saved’.

5. To download your marking invitation letter, click on: ‘DOWNLOAD YOUR LETTER’.

6). You can then print your letter or save it on your local device.

Note: You can only access your invitation letter once KNEC opens the portal.

MATUNGULU BOYS SCHOOL’S KCSE RESULTS

Individual candidates can check their KCSE results by sending an SMS with their full index number (11digits) followed by the word KCSE. The SMS can be sent from any subscriber’s line (Safaricom, Airtel or any other) to 20076. For example, send the SMS in the format 23467847002KCSE to 20076. There should be no space left between the index number and the word KCSE.

One can also download the whole school’s KCSE results by Visiting the Official KNEC exams portal; https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/.  This one requires the school’s log in credentials.

Finally, candidates can visit the school for their results. This is usually a day after the results have been released. It is important that you check your result slip to ensure there are no errors on it. Be keen to see that details such as your name, index number and sex are accurate. In case of any discrepancy, please notify your principal or KNEC immediately for correction.
