Graceland Girls Senior School is a Private Secondary School, located near Nyahururu Town, Laikipia West Constituency in Laikipia County; in the Rift Valley Region of Kenya.
Graceland Girls’ Senior School is a full boarding, girls only, secondary School that offers the 8-4-4 system of education following guidelines set by the ministry of education. At the end of four years our girls sit the Kenya certificate of Secondary Education Examinations.
Graceland School was founded by Samson and Grace Wainaina in 2006 after quitting their teaching jobs. After over twenty years teaching and gaining knowledge on the best ways to impart education, we decided to give back to society by starting a school of our own. The journey has been nothing short of astounding; growing from a tiny school to a double stream centre of excellence, both academic and co curricular. We always remember how we had to convert two bedrooms in our house to dormitories when we started out in 2006 with 15 girls. In 2009, our first candidate class sat their KCSE exam obtaining a mean of 5.9. Years later, our mean has been progressively improving. Following positive reviews and an increasing appreciation for our growth, we decided to start Graceland Primary School. It consists a coed nursery as well as a primary school.
Equipped with expanding managerial knowledge, experience, sacrifice and constantly seeking out the best teachers across the country, we are confident of providing the best possible education to your children. Welcome to Graceland Schools,
In need of more information about the school? Worry not. Use any of the contacts below for inquiries and/ or clarifications:
Being a private school, form one admissions are done at school level. Vacancies are available on competitive basis. Those seeking admissions can though directly contact the school or pay a visit for further guidelines.
The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams. In the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school featured in the list of top 200 schools nationally. This is after recording a mean score of 7.87 (B- minus).

The Education Ministry has set reporting date for the 2020 form ones to secondary schools to be between January Monday 13th to Friday 17th. This will be about one week after the other students would have reported back to school for the new year.
In this county 150 schools are yet to upload their lists. Here is a list of the schools:

A teacher’s family in Karabondi; Homabay County is at pains after the teacher went missing immediately the marking exercise for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, was completed.
The teacher, one Mr Odumbe Moses who plies his trade at Kogana Primary in Rachuonyo North, left his home on November 8, 2019 to mark the KCPE exams in Nairobi. Unfortunately, according to his wife (Joyce Odumbe) the primary school teacher has not returned home long after the exam results were announced. To make matters worse his mobile phones have been switched off and no one knows his whereabouts.
Mr Odumbe arrived at the 2019 KCPE marking centre in St Georges Girls High School on November 10, and later left. Attempts to reach him on phone have been futile since his phone is switched off.
The family sent this note on Facebook to try and trace Mr Odumbe;
“Kindly let me bring this to your attention. We have a case of a missing person; his name is Mr Moses Odumbe who is a teacher at Kogana Primary School in Karachuonyo East, Rambira Location, Karabondi. He went for KCPE marking at St Georges, Nairobi, and since November 14, 2019 nobody knows his whereabouts and his phone has been switched off. The case is with the police and we as a family request anyone with any relevant information to please notify any nearest police station or contact Joyce Ochieng (his wife)…”
The 2019 KCPE results were released on Monday November 18, 2019 by the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha. Over 7,000 examiners were contracted to mark this year’s KCPE Insha and Composition papers. The other papers were marked by the new optical mark recognition (OMR) marking machines acquired by Knec.

Loreto High School Limuru is an all girls’ National School located in Karambaini, Limuru, in Kiambu County; about 28 kilometres from the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi.
On December 4, 1936, Loreto Limuru High School opened its doors to its first students. The school founders were the Sisters of Loreto, who came from Ireland to Kenya in 1921 as Catholic missionaries. The original vision of the school’s founders was to educate African girls who, at that time, were denied the right to an academic education. The pioneers of this school were sisters S.M. Dolores Stafford, S.M. Theresa Joseph O’Sullivan and S.M. Veronica Bradley. They believed, as did Mary Ward, foundress of the Loreto Sisters in 1609, that through education “Women in time to come would do much”. True to this vision, today the school can boast of laying a foundation for visionaries such as Wangari Maathai who won Nobel Peace Prize for protecting the environment. The first task of the sisters was to prepare the girls to sit for the primary examination. They began with seven girls. However, due to the severe cold and mist, the girls disappeared overnight. Later, the girls returned and in 1938 four girls took the Primary Examination and began their Teacher Training course. The first secondary class began in 1947. The first two students, Mary Sekunda Wanjiru, and Merioth Wairimu, passed the Senior Cambridge Certificate Examination. This was the beginning of a record of excellence in public examinations, which still continues at Loreto. Currently, the school is one of the top in the country in extra-curricular activities such as netball, hockey and more. There is also a music festival held at the school. In 1956, a double stream was admitted. There were between 20 to 26 girls per the class. In 1958, Loreto was categorized as a National School, a status it still holds today. In 1970, Loreto was given permission to start an “A level” art class and in 1981, the school was given “A level” science stream, with a science laboratory. Since then, there has been a rapid expansion of the existing facilities, a gradual replacement of old buildings, and establishment of the new infrastructures. This was possible through the hard work of the Board of Governors, the Parents Teachers’ Association, and the support of Ministry of Education. In 1986, Kenya underwent a new era in the field of secondary education, with the introduction of the 8-4-4 Curriculum in Kenya. In addition to this, Loreto was given another challenge to start a third stream, bringing the number of students to over 500. In 1996, the school celebrated its 60th anniversary where His Excellency the President graced the occasion as the chief guest. In 1999, a fourth stream was introduced and in 2002, it became a four-streamed school with 40 students per class. In 2011, the school introduced a fifth stream. Today, the school has a population of over 800 students, over 45 teaching staff, and over 50 support staff.
