
2020/ 2021 KUCCPS placement results for KCSE 2019 candidates
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is set to release the placement results for the 2019 KCSE candidates on Tuesday. According to the agency, the placement process is complete and applicants will receive their results on Tuesday.
“Hello, placement process is complete, you will get to know your placement status tomorrow. Check your student portal for feedback.” noted KUCCPS on Monday evening in a response to a query on the status of the placement process.
This year’s release of the results have been delayed seemingly due to the current covid 19 pandemic. KUCCPS released placement results for the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, students on the 15th of April, 2019. A total of 89,486 students were placed to degree programmes in public and private universities. While TVET programmes (diploma, craft certificate and artisan certificate) took up a total of 98,393.
Placement results are conveyed to students via SMS. The students can also visit the Official KUCCPS student’s portal.
The 125,449 candidates who sat for their KCSE in 2019 and scored grade C+ (plus) and above will all be placed against the available capacity of 193,878. Another 688,928 students qualified for placement at tertiary institutions under government sponsorship. Similarly, a total of 563,479 students who scored between C and E and will be receiving their placement results at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Application for KUCCPS placement involves several stages as explained below:
Stage 1: KUCCPS School/Centre Application
For KCSE 2019 candidates School/Centre application commenced on September 26, 2019 and closed on December 31, 2019. All candidates were encouraged to apply and select for four levels.
Stage 2: KUCCPS first revision 2020
The online application portal was again to be reopened for the 2020/2021 placement to institutions of higher learning. 2019 KCSE candidates had up to Monday, March 9, 2020, at 5.00 pm to apply or revise their courses.
Stage 3: KUCCPS second revision 2020
Candidates who had not qualified on competitive selection for any of their preferred choices during the first round of selection were given a chance to do second revision by selecting courses with unfilled capacities. The application system would again be reopened for the Second Revision of degree, diploma and certificate choices from Thursday, April 2, 2020 to Friday, April 17, 2020.
Stage 4
Any applicant who fails to qualify for their choices but meet the cut off points for placement may be offered any course with unfilled capacities taking into account the minimum requirements for admission.
Currently, the Minimum Requirements for placement:
- Degree C + (Plus)
- Diploma C – (Minus)
- Craft Certificates D (Plain)
- Artisan Certificate D – (Minus) and Below
All K.C.S.E. candidates therefore, are eligible for placement to Universities and Colleges under Government sponsorship at the applicable level.
