KNEC announces July KCSE exams and new tools for visually impaired students

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the July series of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Belio Kipsang, the Education Principal Secretary, shared that they will also introduce Orbit Readers for students with visual impairments and e-assessment for KCSE Computer Studies.

These changes aim to make national exams more inclusive and easier to manage. The new exam schedule will give students more flexibility to choose a time that works best for them.

The mid-year exams will start in July 2025, and results will be out in August, as stated by Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos. This new option allows students who want to improve their scores or those who missed the exams for any reason to retake them.

Kipsang mentioned that using Orbit Readers will help visually impaired students take exams more effectively. These devices can read books and take notes, making the exam experience less stressful for them.

He also explained that the KCSE Computer Studies exam will now be done electronically, keeping up with modern technology and ensuring students are skilled in current computer practices.

KNEC will hold online meetings with important groups to explain and implement these changes smoothly.

These meetings will help everyone adjust to the new exam formats and use the new technologies effectively. The government is dedicated to improving education quality and accessibility in Kenya, making sure every student has a fair chance to succeed.

Stakeholders are encouraged to join these meetings, with links and more details shared the day before each session.
